New York’s buildings and monuments old and new

For about the same price as a Broadway show ticket we saw New York’s old and new buildings from a very pleasant boat ride around the entire island. Great commentary from a very knowledgeable architect historian. We enjoyed snacks and drinks along the way.
Do it!

This tour was amazing! Besides just cruising in the water and taking in the beautiful views....the boat was beautiful, the staff was fantastic, the speaker was so knowledgeable and a working architect and shared so much info abt the city, history and architecture of NY. My 18 year old son loved too.

The incredible knowledge on all things in the area. Our guide was fabulous as well as entertaining. We would rate this the number one historical tour with total comfort for adults. It is a bargain for what you receive.
Nice tour

Host narrator was excellent. Knowledgeable and experienced. Seating at table KK was bad. Couldn’t see through the bar and bartender out the opposite window, so I had to stand up most of the tour to see what the host was speaking about.
Awesome experience

No architecture visible should trigger a refund
Romilly_F, Mar 2024
Our experience with the Manhattan Architecture Cruise was incredibly disappointing to say the least. We booked this excursion about a month before and were really looking forward to it. We had no clue that the weather would be a torrential downpour with zero visibility. We assumed the tour would cancel due to inclement weather or that we would have the option to reschedule without penalty. The morning of the tour we received an email stating that the weather conditions were “ideal” and that they decided to move forward with the tour. We went to the pier and tried to talk to the attendants at the gate about rescheduling and were shocked they hadn’t cancelled. We were told we could have a 50% voucher toward our experience if we decided to reschedule. Basically, if we wanted to go on an architecture tour where we could actually SEE the architecture, we’d have to pay an additional $150 for our group of 3. Reluctantly, we attended the tour because we didn’t want to lose out on something we had already paid for. However, we couldn’t see anything… it was not only a waste of money but a waste of time. Weather conditions being “safe enough” should not be the standard for tours like this. You’d think an architecture tour would include architecture. It seemed that this organization was only concerned with getting our money and didn’t care about the guests’ experience.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hi Romilly, Thank you for booking a cruise with us and taking some time to provide feedback on your recent experience. We wish that we could control the weather in order to make sure that visibility is excellent on every tour, but unfortunately the best we can do is follow the available forecasts and make the best weather predictions we can with the data available in the period of time before guests begin commuting to our location. Many times, the weather clears up when it approaches the warm micro-climate created by the city and provides a beautiful cruise with dramatic cloud formations, rainbows, and the like, and some of these are our customers' favorite trips. Other times, cells and fronts build in intensity as they collide with the air mass over the city, and this can result in less than optimal conditions, but it is very hard to predict accurately far enough in advance to call off a trip for visibility before people start spending time and money to commute to what might be their only chance to do such a tour on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to NYC. We hope that you did enjoy a comfortable cruise with great service from our friendly crew. However, we can understand your frustration that you were not able to see the architecture. Please reach out to us at caleb@classicharborline and provide an email address so that we can discuss further and work to find a satisfactory resolution. We look forward to hearing from you! Warmly, Caleb at Classic Harbor Line

This was the best tour I’ve been on in any city. Highly recommend this if you’re truly interested in the architecture and history of NY. This is a very beautiful boat with private tables and nice food and drink options. I think it’s important to know before booking that it’s a quiet tour as the tour guide is talking the whole time so talking amongst yourselves is kept to a minimum.
