Lovely morning drive out the city and through the forests. Guide was friendly, there isn't much walking involved it is mostly about the jeep just as a heads up

Our guide, Paulo, was highly knowledgeable, and our driver expert. The forest gives one an entirely different experience of Rio from the beaches. We'll definitely take friends with us the next time we visit the city!

Better to explore Tijuca yourself!

You’re crammed into an open air jeep for a long drive. Once you arrive in Tijuca, the tour feels rushed. There were many things to do and see in Tijuca, routes to hike which our group was prepared for, but our trip host said he didn’t have time which was unacceptable to me. We got all of these explanations about trees, never went far enough in or towards the routes where we could see animals. Just disappointing overall. Also, you spend so much time with your back to the sun that my friend and I got sunburnt wherever possible, despite having on sunscreen. One guide hardly spoke, he just drove. Nice guys, pretty forest, but wouldn’t recommend this tour. You can hike it yourself and have a better time.

Great guide but tour itself is okay

The jeep itself was cool but the tour itself is literarily walking around the jungle with no animals to be spotted (unless you count six new mosquitoes bites I collected during the tour as encountered with animals). The tour guide, Andrea was great so five stars for Andrea. Other than that, if you book the tour thinking you’d see exotic animals, you’ll be disappointed

The views were stunning, but we were given little time to enjoy them. The whole tour was rushed because the guide had another tour in the afternoon. The driver was not sure of his way around Rio and the guide was late picking us up.

This was a great thing to do with your family when you don’t know what else to do with your family. We really enjoyed this. The people who took us around were very knowledgeable and they told us a lot of stuff. They also spoken English, which was very helpful, we so enjoyed taking pictures and seeing all the sites at this trip lets you see. I would definitely recommend this. It’s also cooler and if you’re hot it’s definitely worth doing.

The Tijuca Forest trip was an awesome time. Our guides were knowledgeable and very fun guides, and know some good spots for perfect views of Rio and spots for good food. It was a great day, even though it rained. I am definitely going to recommend this to anyone I know that's going to Rio.

The tour was fun. They picked us up in an open jeep and drove us to several sites in the Tijuca Forest. Plenty of time for photos and learned about the local plants and some history of the forest. The hike was light and well marked, so people of all ages could do it. Though people with walking impairments could not. I'd recommend this to others and if I come back to Rio, I'd do the tour again myself and bring friends. Recommendation: Bring insect repellent. Although I went in "winter," it's still warm and there were some insects. I got bit a few times even though didn't see/feel flying insects. Also wear a hat or pull your hair into a bun. You get picked up in an open top jeep and ride through the city to the Tijuca Forest, so your hair whips around. Bring something otherwise, you'll have a time brushing your hair out later.

Do not BOOK, Tour never showed up for pick up.

The tour operator never communicated with us prior to date for pick up. I sent a message to them 2 days before to confirm pick up time and no answer. We headed the day of our scheduled tour early to the pick up hotel anyway. When we arrived I called and spoke to someone who told me they were 40 mins late and would arrive at 8:40 and driver was on the road. That was with me reaching out not them. At 9am we were still waiting and called again. They then said they were still running late and pick up time would then be 9:40. We told them how irresponsible they were and how they failed to communicate to the people waiting. We immediately demanded a refund. NO COMMUNICATION, NO CONSODERATION FOR OTHERS TIME. WE WOKE UP EARLY AND LOST PRECIOUS MORNING TIME. DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR, PLEASE GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE!

Safe, friendly, expert tour

Very friendly, knowledgeable tour guide for a safe, expert tour. We saw monkeys, heard a toucan, splashed in a waterfall, and learnt loads of interesting facts about the plants and wildlife.

Worst tour experience we have ever had

Do not do this tour. No one showed to pick us up even though we went to the meeting point on the ticket before the meeting time. We had contacted the tour company several times before the tour to confirm the details of departure and were given incorrect information (they messaged us with the wrong month of the tour and then told us to wait in the lobby of our hotel even though we were being picked up at the cruise ship pier. We waited for almost 2 hours. We were messaging the tour company during this time and they replied like they were still coming to get us even though by that time the tour had left from a location and time different than that on our ticket. They did not reply again until we told them we were cancelling and going with another company. We have done many tours booked through Viator including in Rio and have never had an experience like this. It ruined a good portion of our trip, and we are so grateful we did another tour with a different company as it was spectacular. Do not book with this tour company; you have several other options.
