Great tour of the Favella with Matte who was very knowledgeable. Even though its not recommended to tour alone without a guide we felt safe enough. Might have been different otherwise. What was strange was that we were picked up by Marcelo in a lovely car before being driven to meet another person who was to join us as well as the guide. We then transferred to a taxi which took us to the Favela. Once the tour had finished we were taken to the tube station and given passes to get back to where we were staying. Trouble was it was a fair walk back to the hotel from the station after a very long and tiring walk round the Favela. This sort of spoiled the experience as we thought we'd very taken back directly to the hotel.

female solo traveler. definitely book the tour. the car ride was tight and a bit toasty but getting there was smooth. the first guy gave a lot of info that was cool to listen to. the best part was with barbara. she’s a doll! we started at the entrance and worked our way inward and out. dope experience. she was pretty funny too and definitely showed us the ins and outs of the place. there wasn’t anything to be afraid of either. also she taught us how to ride the subways back to our hotels. wear comfy shoes. it’s like a mini country inside a huge one lol

Realistic overview of what life is like in a favela. Thoroughly recommend. Knowledgable guide. Small group of 6. We bought some snacks off stallholders. Wear sturdy shoes, there’s walking up and down stairs.

Unfortunatelly the trip was canceled just the night before the tour due to the lack of participants? It is pity, because planning a time in Rio via such websites should be more certain . Luckily another guides that I met in Rio, organized for me another person who could take me to a different Favela Santa Marta(organized within 10hours!). The price was even smaller and I was alone, so it is a matter what is the goal of the company: earn or to provide...

The platform Viator suggest us to reply mostly to negative reviews such as yours: the tour cannot be made with only one person, we try to handle tours in a way we can have at least 2, you could not join it any other day, so tour was cancelled and we informed you accordingly and provided refund. Good you found another provider but why coming here with assumptions like earning/profit... what is the point of that?

This is a safe and unique tour. Our guide Marcelo talked many truths about Rio, which is very insightful. The other guide Leo is very responsible. He knows the tour so well, and he is capable to say not only English and Portuguese, but also Spanish, French and Italian, making the tour much easier and understandable.

Leo was a very knowledgeable guide. It was an eye-opening tour. The people living in the flavela were extremely industrious. I was surprised to find all the bustle going on. All the narrow windy staircases fun to negotiate. The chaotic organization was something to behold. The school we visited was filled with wonderful children and dedicated staff. The tour was definitely enlightening and a must visit.

Tour was ok. A lot of walking from the top of the favela to the bottom over 90 minutes. Our tour guide Mato was a good guy and gave us good commentary. . They drop you at the subway. Buy your tickets and give you the direction back to where you started. All up pretty good ,although not spectacular . Value for the price .
