Make your own way to the centrally located meeting point in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district. Settle into your comfortable coach and make use of the free Wi-Fi during the drive to Mt. Fuji's 5th Station—if the 5th Station is inaccessible due to road or weather conditions, you’ll visit the highest station possible.

Next, explore the Owaku-dani valley volcanic area on Mt. Hakone, which is characterized by sulfuric vapors and hot springs. Your guide willl fill you in on the details about this unique landscape before you board the Hakone Ropeway for an exciting ride from Owakudani to Togendai.

Great tour, our guide was excellent and have us lots of information on what to expect. We were less mobile due to me being pregnant so this was a great way to see everything. The coach was comfortable and the stops were great. Would recommend if you get a nice day

Good value
KarenL_F, Apr 2024
We booked this trip hoping to catch a glimpse of Mt Fuji and experience travelling on the bullet train. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and we didn’t get to see the mountain. Enjoyed the trip however, did think the pirate ship across the lake was a little ‘cheesy’ felt we could have done something else instead. Despite the weather we did enjoy the tour. We chose to return to Tokyo by bullet train which was an awesome experience.

Trip was great, a bit short time on most stops, do to other in the group or to tight schedule. The guide had several time low voice so difficult to hear what she said.
Great tour

Well Worth It!

The ease of location of the meeting point. The friendliness and knowledgeable of the Tour Guide, beauty of the Hakone area, awesome experience of riding the Bullet Train. We truly had a bit of Japanese culture that is memorable.
Check the weather and cancel if it rains.
Kenneth_T, Apr 2024
Check the weather before you go and if there is a hint of rain in April, cancel quickly. This 300 dollar (for 2) excursion turned into a switch and bait when the weather went bad. We primarily wanted to see Fuji - no Fuji. Completely closed in the rain and fog (snow on the mountain. We were looking forward to the rope incline. Closed. The pirate ship cruise was (after being cancelled then reinstated) was a 25 minute ride in fog so thick you couldn’t see anything. There did have alternate ninja village and check point reconstruction. But was it worth what we paid?? No. I am not upset the weather turned bad. There was a lot of confusion and chaos from it, but I think it was handled as best as possible. Here’s my beef: The tour knew the likelihood the mountain and adjacent items would cancel or be curtailed were high. But this was a go rain or shine and we were not told this until we were underway. No choice to cancel prior to this, no information ahead. No thought of refund or reschedule options. Instead we paid for a 300 dollar bus ride.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Dear Kenneth, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent tour experience to Mount Fuji. We are sorry to hear that the weather conditions impacted your enjoyment of the tour. We understand your disappointment with the visibility of Mount Fuji and the closure of some attractions due to rain and fog. We strive to provide alternative activities in such situations, and we regret if this was not communicated effectively during your tour. Regarding the decision to continue with the tour despite the weather conditions, it is our policy to proceed with tours rain or shine unless there are serious calamities such as typhoons. We understand that this may be disappointing for some guests, and we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused by the lack of clear communication regarding this policy. We would like to clarify that on the selling platform, it is clearly stated that the tour is a go rain or shine package, and that there is no refund in this case. Additionally, guests booking through Viator have the option to cancel free of charge prior to 24 hours before the tour if they judge the weather to be too bad in order to enjoy the tour. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our communication and customer experience in the future. We also hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on a future tour under more favorable conditions. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the weather and our management of the weather related policy. Best regards,
Mt. Fuji was visible
Steven_S, Apr 2024
We enjoyed the trip as we went with realistic expectations on March 26, 2024. We knew that the weather would decide if we would actually see Mt. Fuji. Thankfully, the weather cooperated in the morning and Mt. Fuji was visible. The road was closed due to icy conditions after the 1st station. But, the tour guide diverted us to the World Heritage Center where the view was perfect. Unfortunately, the clouds came in after lunch so we couldn't see Mt. Fuji from the tram or the lake cruise.
Great tour but is highly dependent on the weather cooperating in order to view Mt Fuji.
StevenY_K, Apr 2024
Tour was very good and well organized. Although, the weather did not fully cooperate when the tour stopped at Mt Fuji, there were views of Mt Fuji on the drive to and from. The views from Lake Ashi while on the cruise are very spectacular and beautiful.
I should book another activity
Luis_P, Apr 2024
We can’t see anything because of the weather, the timming for each stop was very little, you should have more time and back up activities when the weather it is bad
Full day tour with good activities
Anthony_H, Apr 2024
Excellant day out and was cheap for what we did for a 10 hour day luckily no rain but highly recommended
Good
Elmira_E, Apr 2024
Not lucky with weather, so couldn't see Fuji. Tour itself was interesting due to visited places with very tasty Japanese food, beautiful nature and scenery from boat brought peace to my mind.
Mount Fuji at its best
Kevin_W, Apr 2024
The day started badly with torrential rain thus cancelling the cable car and lake Asha cruise. The sun came out just as we were having lunch allowing us to capture brilliant pictures. The Shinkansen trip back to Tokyo was unbelievable. The tour guide from HIS was very good
Mt. Fuji
KwanKew_L, Mar 2024
Seeing Mt. Fuji. Very helpful and friendly Tour guide Fujijio and her assistant. We were lucky to have a clear view of Mt. Fuji even though it wasn't a sunny day.
Rushed, no good alternatives for rain
Patrick_B, Mar 2024
Rain and mist made 3/4 stops untenable, and the last stop was ridiculously crowded. Good tour guide, good stops, but alternative plans for rainy days is a must.
Disappointing due to weather
Leigh_M, Mar 2024
Unfortunately not the greatest experience - the weather was out of the guide’s control but given how foggy and poor the weather was, I think we should have been given the option at the start of the day to reschedule for another day or just cancel altogether. If I visit Japan again, I think I’d risk it and try and book this the day of the tour, or day before as it was a lot of money to pay. Other feedback to provide: the instructions for where to meet were very clear, so we were looking for a guide with a dark blue flag, but the guide was not using this and was standing beside the bus, not at the designated meeting point
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Leigh, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent tour experience. We are sorry to hear that the weather conditions affected your enjoyment of the tour. We understand your frustration and apologise for any inconvenience caused by the weather. While we strive to provide the best possible experience, weather conditions are unfortunately beyond our control. We appreciate your suggestion of offering the option to reschedule or cancel at the start of the day, but the weather in Japan can be very changeable, so we do not offer refunds or changes in the event of inclement weather. Of course, in the event of severe weather disruption, such as typhoons or heavy rain, we may decide to cancel the tour in order to ensure the safety of our guests, which is our first priority. We apologise for any confusion regarding the meeting point. We will review our communications and ensure that our guides use the designated meeting point and flag to avoid any further confusion. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you on another tour in the future. Kind regards,
Mt Fuji and Hakone tour

We were able to see the Mt Fuji up to the 4th station which was so amazing. The Bullet Train coming back was an exciting experience . I love everything in this tour itinerary. thank you - Chrisanta P from Los Angeles CA
Highly recommended day at Mount Fuji
Margaret_M, Mar 2024
This full day trip was a great way to visit Mount Fuji. We also had a cable car ride and a trip across Lake Ashi. Our guide was very helpful and good fun, even doing a funny little origami demonstration on the bus with us. His English wasn't the best however he did his best to ensure we all had a good time. The lunch provided was tasty however the parts of the meal which should have been hot were cold. We had a fantastic day and return by bullet train which was a great experience. People should be aware that the bullet train trip ends at Tokyo station and your ticket supplied by the guide is valid for your onward journey. I would highly recommend this trip.
Poor customer experience- untrained tour guide
Mike_N, Mar 2024
The English speaking tour guide barely spoke any English at all. She appeared unfamiliar with the route and we suspected it may have been her first day. Her management needs to accept responsibility to train her. After going to Mount Fuji, we went to some stop that was nothing more than a parking lot and some undesirable tourist trap shops.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent tour experience. We sincerely apologize for the problems you encountered and appreciate your candid comments, as they help us to improve our services. We are sorry to hear that you found our tour guide's English to be lacking and that you felt she was unfamiliar with the route. We strive to provide knowledgeable and experienced guides, and we will raise your concerns with our management team to ensure that our guides are adequately trained and prepared for their roles. Regarding the stop after Mount Fuji, we regret that it did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide our guests with a diverse and enjoyable experience and will review this stop to ensure that it meets our standards and provides value to our customers. We value and take your feedback seriously, and thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with an improved, more enjoyable and memorable tour experience in the future. Sincerely,
What a Mountain
