Looming above the Bay of Naples, Mt. Vesuvius (Monte Vesuvio) famously erupted in AD 79, covering Pompeii in ash and preserving the ruins of the Roman city for thousands of years. The volcano remains the only active one in continental Europe—despite this, many visitors hike to the crater to catch one-of-a-kind views of Pompeii, the Bay of Naples, and the surrounding Italian countryside.

We had a fabulous tour...
We had a fabulous tour guide at Pompei who was wonderful with both kids and adults - it’s an amazing spot - hard to believe it was a city of 20k people

Would recommend
Seeing Pompeii. The guide was knowledgeable and went at a good pace. Unfortunately we couldn’t go all the way up to the volcano due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. On the ride back to the ship it would have been nice if the new tour guide had shared her knowledge a bit more.

Our guide Antonio was...
Our guide Antonio was amazing, very organized and knowledgeable about the place. Must do experience and definitely worth exploring the place with a tour guide. Mount Vesuvius was cancelled due to bad weather which was clearly communicated 3 days back and 40 euros were refunded.
