Overview

Cycle through the countryside without the worry of being left behind with this small-group bike tour from Amsterdam. In a small group, you’ll enjoy a more intimate way to discover the landscapes beyond the city. Follow a guide at a leisurely pace for 18 miles (30 kilometers), and see farms, fishing villages, and, as always in Holland, a lot of cows. Halfway through the tour make a stop in Holysloot for a slice of apple pie (own expense) to refuel for the rest of your journey.

An excellent tour through the Amsterdam countryside

Quickly departing the city area, our guide lead us on a route north of the city. We were treated to scenes of farm pastures, cows, local villages, and the waterways that surround Amsterdam. Our guide taught us how the waterways help the city, explained the history of the city, and showed us many sights along the way. The stop at a cafe in Holysloot also treats you to some of the best apple pie that you will find. The riding was easy enough. It was flat terrain and though it was a lot of cycling, it was manageable. On windy days, it would be a little more of a workout. Overall, a great tour, friendly guide, and the company provides good quality bikes for the trip.

Nice To Get Out of the City

It was really nice to get out of the city and experience the countryside. The guide was a bit lackluster with little enthusiasm. The mid ride stop at a country-side cafe was also. Ice. I think it was a bit short in education and information.

Our guide was very knowledgable about history and had interesting stories. The ride was a nice balance of riding and exercise and hearing historical information and socializing at the apple pie break.

One of Our Favorite Experiences in Amsterdam!

We were blessed with some of the most beautiful weather for this truly magical tour of the countryside; it's easy to see how this landscape captured the imagination of impressionists, including Van Gogh himself. Our guide was fantastic: personable, friendly, engaging and patient. Despite none of us being superb urban cyclists, he got our group (including some inexperienced adolescents) comfortably in and out of the city and into the wide open country. We were so delighted with how bucolic the Dutch countryside remains, and he enriched every moment of the tour with information and great stories. For us, this was a beautiful gezellig morning and a favorite experience during our time in Amsterdam. I won't give away anymore details; you will just have to experience it for yourself <3

Worth the effort for a glimpse of rural life & scenery

Biking out to the fishing village and through the Wetlands Reserve was wonderful! Enjoyed the informative stops along the way. Would recommend a pause in the fishing village but maybe that would be too intrusive for the locals. Loved biking through the wetlands.

A perfect way to see a bit of the area outside the city of Amsterdam! Beautiful countryside area with bike paths making it easy to really take in the surroundings. Holysloot was like walking into and experiencing a picture pefect countryside village.

We absolutely loved the opportunity to leave the city and take a bike tour into the countryside. Our tour guide, Jacob, was very knowledgeable about the area and enthusiatic about answering questions and sharing his knowledge with the group. The pace of the tour was manageable and enjoyable and included stops in places of interest. There was even the opportunity to sit down and enjoy a piece of Apple Pie. We would recommend this tour and Jacob to anyone who is looking to bicycle but might be too nervous to do it in the city.

Beautiful bike ride appropriate for the whole family. We biked with kids ages 12, 15 and 21. There is a little bit of a ride through the city on their well established bike lanes, a 3 minute ferry ride and then the majority of our cycling takes place in the countryside. We stopped at several points along the way to soak in the view and take pictures, as well as a short stop at a local cafe where we sat on the outside patio for a break. The tour is long (about 4 hours) but you don't feel tired, as the pace is nice and easy to keep up. If you enjoy biking this is a great way to see the countryside. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and clearly loves and appreciates the beauty of Amsterdam. We highly recommend this tour! Very peaceful and scenic.

This was an incredibly pleasant way to get out in the countryside, get some exercise, and learn quite a bit about the Netherlands. Not to mention have a lovely lunch in a small town! Kudos to our guide Lea who was very informed, very good about speaking loudly and sharing her knowledge, and consistently attentive and careful to everyone’s needs. Our group ranged in age from 8 to 65 and she set a pace that worked for everyone. I highly recommend this tour.

An Amsterdam must do!

How could you visit Amsterdam and not try biking? Bikes are definitely the preferred mode of transportation in the city and we found out why on our tour. Our guide, Leah, was delightful and knowledgeable, leading us through town, across a ferry and into the countryside. He knowledge of the history of the area made the experience much more than just a biking tour. The whole family loved this experience.
