What To Expect

Your day starts by making your way to the centrally located meeting point where you will meet your guide and settle into your comfortable coach. After a short drive, your first stop is Zaanse Schans where you can admire traditional Dutch windmills that are still in use today and historic wooden buildings.

The next stop is Edam for a visit to the site of the historic cheese market and time to explore independently. Then, near Volendam, you’ll visit a local cheese producer and learn how they make Gouda and Edam cheeses—and sample some of the goods. After visiting a clog factory, it’s another short drive to the fishing village of Marken where you can admire its characteristic colorful wooden houses.

Your bus tour ends at A'dam Lookout where, if you have booked the optional cruise, your 1-hour cruise to Centraal Station begins.

It was a wonderful day. The windmills were so cool to see. The walk through Edam was nice. Our tour guide, Karl was so good. He was funny and made the whole day enjoyable. Our bus driver, Richard was also great, a nice man. Loved the cheese and clog place. Everyone there was so up and funny. Would recommend this tour

This was a great trip! Our tour guide Rob was knowledgeable and personable and made the whole tour super fun. I highly recommend this. All the stops were great and the sights were beautiful.

Our guide Karl made this trip the success it was. He was professional, amusing and full of interesting facts about the places we visited and The Netherlands in general. The stops in each place lasted a good amount of time and there was time for looking in the shops too

Nice for a pic, but mostly gift shops.

This was a fun day, but very touristy. It's mostly gift shops and a few photo ops. Don't believe the promotional photos, Zaanse Schans does not have tulip fields. The cheese and clog shop in Edam was basically a big warehouse.

Our guide Ilya was excellent. We enjoyed the cheese and clog- making demonstrations the most. Volendam is a pretty seaside town with lots of restaurants and shops.

Amazing tour guide, Rob, who was friendly, very knowledgeable and gave great insights into the places we visited, and the Dutch culture and mindset. Ample time allocated for each place visited, and great to cover a wide variety of locations within a relatively short trip. Surprised these places are all within a short distance of Amsterdam. Sadly, for us, the weather wasn't too kind and I'm sure these places would had looked even better in the dry (Not that we, or the tour provider has any influence over this). Thoroughly recommended.

A Slice of Dutch Countryside

This tour takes you on a journey through the beautiful Dutch countryside. Led by knowledgeable guides, it offers a blend of cultural immersion and scenic exploration. The tour is well-arranged and full of interesting stops where you learn a lot. The best parts are exploring windmills, visiting a cheese farm, and seeing how wooden clogs are made. These experiences make you feel like you're truly experiencing Dutch culture. But the time spent at each place feels a bit rushed. It would be better if the tour lasted a whole day. That way, we could take our time and really enjoy each stop. Overall, this tour is a great way to see the Dutch countryside, but it could be even better with a bit more time at each place.

The perfect tour to spend an afternoon outside of the city!

For those who want to get out of the city for an afternoon and go back in history and enjoy the countryside of old holland, this is the perfect tour! Each place we visited was unique and had its own charm- all get 5 stars in my eyes! I saw a lot, learned a lot, tasted a lot of the Dutch Culture. Highly recommended! And our driver, William, and tour guide, Karl, made our experience that much better with the delightful characters and knowledge! Thank you viators!

Rob was an amazing guide! He is very knowledgeable and friendly. He provided lots of insights into the places we visited, as well as the history and culture of the Netherlands. The places we visited were beautiful (we were lucky it wasn't raining!), and the local guys who spoke about the cheese/clog were entertaining as well. Wished that we had a little more time in Volendam for lunch and visiting the souvenir shops. Overall it was a great day trip in Netherlands. Thanks, Rob!
