Totally worth the time if you want to learn something.

Excellent tour. Our guide James was so knowledgeable and explained the horrific events in a comprehensive manner. He suggested places to return to for further exploration. Learned so much more from this tour than the Ann Frank house (not included). A must for all Amsterdam visitors. Ask for James!
Phenomenal tour with James!!
Kirk_S, May 2024
The tour was so incredible because of the guide, James Samuels. He was extremely knowledge able. I don’t know if you request a specific guide, but that is who we would recommend. One of the best guides any of us have had in many cities.
Interesting and informative

Our guide was very knowledgeable. Heard very interesting stories and had a much richer experience then I would have had on my own.
We must never allow this to happen again!

Our guide was incredibly learned about The history of Amsterdam during WWII, during the holocaust. Although it was a horrendous time it was important to understand what the jewish population suffered. Never again!
We did not get the essence of what this tour could have been.

The Tour Guide took the group to specific locations and explained them in a didactic way. We got the impression that he really didn't want to be there. He seemed immature. His remarks often times came across as sarcastic and "snarky". He did not make an effort to convey with empathy and feeling what Jews in Amsterdam must've gone through during World War II. And he didn't appear to care what people in the group felt about the experience. At the end of the tour, he made a sarcastic remark something like, "I don't care what you people say about me because I'll never see you again." Perhaps he meant that as a joke; however, when considering our experience with the tour, it didn't seem like a joke. We've had wonderful experiences with Viator Tours in the past. We hope this tour was an aberration.
Excellent tour, great guide!

My husband and I traveled to Amsterdam for the first time. Our guide, Aaron, was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. He had a great sense of humor but also provided the appropriate atmosphere of solemnity when appropriate. He even pointed out the closest restrooms (a plus for us women on the tour). We learned a lot and enjoyed this tour very much.
Could Not Find!
Alicia_M, Apr 2024
Traveled to Amsterdam from Belgium by train on day of tour. We arrived 5 minutes before tour time and could not find place to meet. Tried to contact tour operator and could not get through. We asked other operators in the area and no one knew this tour group. We missed the tour and we contacted Viator for refund. Still waiting to see confirmation of refund from Viator. We were very disappointed!
Guided through the Quarter by a Professional

The history was presented in a caring and sensitive manner. Given the atrocities that befell the Jewish people living in Amsterdam (and throughout Europe) the compassion and empathy that our guide demonstrated showed that he had a deep understanding of his subject matter.
Very interesting tour

A Moving, Memorable Experience

Pedro was a terrific guide, knowledgeable, passionate and helpful. He gave us a wonderful insight into the history of Jewish Amsterdam, particularly the pain of the Holocaust and the attitudes of Dutch society, both positive and negative. We will long remember this experience.
Excellent tour

Excellent history, tour and guide - took us to places we knew nothing of both geographically and in time. Excellent historian
Great tour for history/WW2 fans
Ellen_C, Apr 2024
This is a great tour, I highly recommend. The guide was very knowledgeable and took time to answer everyone's questions. Walking through the Holocaust Memorial and seeing so many historic landmarks was very moving and a reminder of a very painful period that we must not forget.
Enriching Amsterdam: Jewish Quarter Walking Tour
Marina_K, Apr 2024
We visited Amsterdam as part of the official guided tour of several European countries. Had we not explored Jewish Quarter Walking Tour with James we would have certainly missed at least 85 % of the mind blowing information regarding both the accomplishment of the Jewish community of the Amsterdam and an immense tragedy that followed during Nazi occupation. Although the main subject of this tour is seriously sobering considering what it actually deals with, the overall experience at the end has been quite enlightening and purifying. And this is without even mentioning the fact of Jewish Quarter representing the architectural heart of Amsterdam. In summary: the guided tour of Jewish Quarter most certainly tremendously enriched our experience of Amsterdam. Special thanks goes to James for his patience in giving us some extra time to join this incredibly insightful tour!

Meaningful and well run. We learned so much we would not have learned if we had tried to do something on our own. Highly recommend.
Excellent Tour Guide!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bruce_M, Jan 2024
Even though it was raining, we had an excellent tour guide whose knowledge of the history of the Jews in Amsterdam was excellent! Just wish I has recorded some of it. We will keep doing Viator tours as long as the excellence of the guides stays high. This tour for us was a big WIN even with dismal weather.

James was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide. We were lucky enough to have a private tour experience with him. The tour was impactful and deeply meaningful. His knowledge of the history of The Netherlands, Amsterdam and the Jewish people especially during WWll and the Holocaust was impressive. We are grateful to have done this tour with him!
