Bring water and umbrella
Vi_D, Apr 2024
The pick was on time and the overall tour was as describe. Here are a few issues that I had with the tour. 1.) The tour guide might have a deal with restaurant he takes you to because the food deal that he pitch does not taste good. In fact, it was the worst taco I had in MX. 2.) When we got to the temple site, the tour guide talked for about 45 minutes (on 1 ruin temple), and only left 30 minutes for self exploration. 3.) The tour guide does not offer any umbrellas and choose to stand the whole group under direct sun the whole time even though there is near back shade spots. There was no reason to make adults and children stand under the direct sun light. 4.) No water was offer on the tour.
Such a great and informative tour
JAMIE_D, Mar 2024
If you get Jerry as your tour guide consider yourself lucky. He is so knowledgeable, funny and actually cares about you as a group. The lunch is so good get it and I recommend the al pastor burrito and guac so good. Buy souvenirs near the tea restaurant they are so reasonably priced. The cenote is so amazing take some water shoes your feet will thank you. Honestly we learned so much about the Mayan culture on this tour. You will be out in the heat so wear sunscreen, hat, and take an eco friendly water bottle. If u forget your bottle buy the canned water just before you enter the temple you will need it.
Great day of sightseeing!

Layla was an excellent guide. The tour was long as we came from Cancun and the drive to Tulum is ~2hrs, just be prepared for a long day and you'll have a wonderful time!
Description misleading. Tour was great!!
Stacey_V, Feb 2024
The tour itself was great. Our tour guide, Mary, was fun, knowledgeable, patient and very accommodating. It’s the description on the tour that was misleading. The actual timeline is double the one mentioned. It said six hours and so we schedule dinner reservations. Luckily for us, Mary worked wonders to get us back so we can have dinner. Be aware, the tour is 12-13 hours.
Layla our guide was...
Dan_D, Feb 2024
Layla our guide was excellent and totally went out of her way to help my aging parents who weren't exactly up to the walking requirements. Be mindf the Tulum is probably about a mile total of walking. Not rigorous but not easy for an 85 year old.
Seeing Tulum the right way
Michael_K, Jan 2024
Absolutely great time even with the rain coming down our tour guide was the bomb , made sure we knew history and that we had a good time , the centers were legendary, highly recommended!!!!
Pick another Tulum tour...
Emily_M, Jan 2024
While this tour is advertised as a 6 hour tour it in fact took up 14 hours of my time start to finish. Why? Because of hours of hotel pick-ups. The company was supposed to pick me up at 6:50 AM (I was the first pick up). They ended up picking me up at 7:20 AM. What ensued was then two hours of picking people up at different hotels and resorts. From my hotel to Tulum it was about a 2 hour drive but the bus didn't get to Tulum until 11:30 AM! So the entire trip down there took 4 hours. As one person said, it's really a tour of Cancun's resorts. I noticed there were two resorts where we waited for 15 minutes for people to show up and they were no shows. I wonder if they gave up waiting since the tour was late to start. Another person we picked up in Tulum was given a pick-up time of 9:30 AM when in fact we picked her up at 11:30 AM. Again the pick-up times are sketchy at best. Tulum itself was nice and interesting. I really enjoyed the beach front area. Lunch was OK- nothing special. The Cenote was nice to cool off in; however, I was annoyed when I was told the bus was leaving at 4:45 PM when in fact that meant we were to be done swimming at 4:45 PM so my swimming time was cut short. Also, I didn't see where there were changing facilities. I ended up changing in the very small bathroom. All in all I would advise folks to pick another tour. I purposely picked this tour since I was attracted to the 6 hours but in reality it took far longer. Another tour I saw advertises 12 hours but they visit more spots (Coba and Playa del Carmen) so pick one of those. This trip was not worth it!
Great Experience, Fantastic Views!!

The Mayan ruins. Jacqueline was very informative, answered our questions and gave excellent recommendations.
The Cenote was amazing....
Amy_C, Dec 2023
The Cenote was amazing. The Mayan ruins were ok to see. The tour guide was a wealth of knowledge but very hard to understand. He spoke English but very hard to comprehend what he was saying. Picking up people from their hotels in the morning took longer than we would have liked. The line was crazy at Tulum but we got there right before so we didn’t have to wait so long. People drive crazy in mexico so that was stressful.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Dear Amy_C Thank you for reviewing our Tulum Day-Trip Experience, we appreciate your comments. We are glad to hear you found the Cenote amazing! it is truly one of the marvels of the Mayan Riviera. The Ruins are also a sight so see; while in most days access is pretty much instant, holidays are a big crowd magnet. We hope you enjoyed your guided visit! Our team of expert drivers has your safety as the top priority, they are sure to take you to your destination without a problem! Warm rergards, The Cancun Travel Experience Team
Great day out
Julie_C, Dec 2023
Great day out, Gerry our guide was excellent and knew his history. The ruins were very busy. Great views from the top. Cenote swimming was a welcome cool down afterwards.
Great tour for a small taste of excursions
Sandy_L, Dec 2023
Good trip. Tulum ruins area is small but on a sea cliff, very beautiful setting. Cenotes are cold but beautiful. Maybe bring a snorkel mask to enjoy more. Rent the life jackets. Tour bus picked us up on time, 7:50am. Made it back to Cancun for dinner. Just know that if your pickup is in Cancun, you will be back around 6pm despite it being a half day tour. Cancun is very far from all the excursion locations with the exception of Isla Mujeres. So if you’re planning on many tours and excursions, maybe consider a Playa de Carmen or Riviera Maya hotel. Came for a friend’s wedding so had no choice in hotel location.
Response from Host, Dec 2023

Is a no, no.
Ricardo_B, Oct 2023
1st Since these trips are not provided by Viator and is a third party there is a lost in communication; Viator told us to wait for the tour guide outside the hotel premises at the guard check as their company is not allowed to pick in the lobby. We had to walk all the way to the guard check to know that somehow the tour company managed to persuade the guard and pass to the hotel lobby. Not only we had to walk unnecessarily but we almost lost the tour as the guide was in the lobby and we where waiting at the main hotel entrance. 2nd Timing is terrible the trip is sold for a max of 6-8 hrs we lost the entire day (got picked at 830 and drop at 730pm almost 12hrs) that said don’t count on doing anything else at your hotel or elsewhere. These guides extend the trip by making stops at places where they have an agreement and sponsor so to earn extra money in between which extends even more the time on things we didn’t planned. 3rd Be aware Viator sell these at a price to catch you and the tour company charge extra for some sort of fee for the site which was another $50 and obviously not expected. Would not recommend. Gd luck.
Response from Host, Oct 2023
Dear Ricardo_B, Thank you for your review on our Ultimate Tulum Experience Mayan Ruins & Cenote Swim from Riviera Maya. Upon reviewing, we have noticed your pickup time was scheduled at 08:30 Hrs at the security main entrance, where the tour guide picked you up at 08:32 Hrs, since due to the policies of the hotel, we are not able to access to the lobby of the resort as confirmed one day before with the details of the tour including the natural conservation efforts fee listed at the exclusions of the product. Unfortunately the day of your tour there was a major accident in Playa del Carmen which caused the tour to be delayed on the arrival and return time to the Mayan temples, even though traffic is some times unpredictable we do apologize for this delay on the return time, however it is always our goal for you to enjoy the whole time at each location. Nevertheless we hope you had enjoyed your stay at our beautiful destination and hope to see you next time. The Cancun Travel Experience Team.
