Visited great spots, but there was far too much wasted time waiting about
Sarah_B, Apr 2024
The Tulum ruins are a fabulous sight in a lovely coastal setting so definitely worth a visit. Then a lovely dip in a remote cenote was a real welcome after the heat of the day. There was far too much waiting about and time spent picking people up and that was irritating. It was meant to be a 6 hour trip but we left at 9am and didn't get back until after 5pm. We waited for the guide to get tickets for the ruins - didn't seem to be able to get them in advance or even skip the general public queue so that took ages. We also then picked up people effectively across the road from the ruins, then after seeing them, went back up half way towards Playa for the cenote, which would've been perfect for getting back to our hotel, yet as we'd picked these people up in Tulum, we had to go back on ourselves - a totally unneccessary trip. Either don't pick up Tulum people, or go to a cenote closer to the ruins. The cenote was lovely though and after seeing a more commercial/ popular cenote 2 days prior, this was a nice contrast - very chilled and more of a place where you could spend all day. All in all, we visited great spots but there was FAR too much wasted time.

Jerri was very informative and we learned a great deal about the Mayans. Jerry and his driver were very courteous.
Lovely place, not long enough there.
Alan_T, Mar 2024
Spent 3 hours travelling from Cancun, 1 hour in Tulum ruins isn't enough, an hour in a less than average cafe at a tourist trap! The hour in the cenote was nice and then a three hour journey back to Cancun. Can't really add more than that, other than extra charges seem to magically appear. Please just do it at one final price, not an extra £20 which I had to pay on the day! Follow my adventures on Heartbeat-NWCC facebook page. Its a small Northwest England charity provided exercise rehabilition for people like myself who have had either major heart issues or head trauma.
Fun, worth it

Layla we an excellent tour guide, it was really in depth with the tour and experience. The entire group was a blast.
Solid day trip near Tulum
Ben_F, Mar 2024
We had Layla as our tour guide and she did amazing! Had a lot of knowledge about the ruins and the history of them as well. The Cenote was beautiful, clear water with a lot of small fish! Definitely recommend taking the day trip! Make sure you bring sunscreen and plenty of water! Hotel pick up was smooth with no issues. Trip lasted from about 9am to around 3.
Would do it again
Eduardo_H, Mar 2024
Mari who was the tour guide made it enjoyable. She was very accommodating and made sure that we understood everything that was going to happen along the tour. Any issues she resolved right away. Pedro the driver, made sure we made it to our destinations safely.
Great time

Mary and the driver were very knowledgeable and personable which made the trip fun . Tulum was wonderful and the chocolate tequila tasting was tasty !
Cool to see once
Laura_C, Mar 2024
I am glad we went, but I would not do it again. It was cool to see once in a lifetime. I liked that we got picked up and dropped off right at our hotel. There were 14 of us total. It was an extra $23 per person at the Mayan ruins, plus about another $15-$20 per person for lunch. It was HOTT. You can only bring water in a metal bottle, no plastic. Put sunscreen on before you go, nowhere to stop to put it on. Cenote was neat, but chilly. Don't bother with a snorkel or goggles, it's just alge muck and little tiny fish. It was cool if you sit on the stairs with your feet in the water, the little fish nibble your feet, like a pedicure. At Cenote, it was nice to just float, so then you have to rent a life jacket for an extra $3. I found it was just more and more $$. I wish some of the fees were included upfront instead of having to pay when we got there.
Overall Good
Caitlyn_s, Mar 2024
Some highlights: tour arrived right on time early morning, cenote was beautiful and not too busy, tequila tasting was great but I had to remind them a few times about it. The guide was very helpful in giving us safety and directional tips. We got back to our hotel at 5:00 pm so it was a full day but transportation timing was great. Some drawbacks: we were stuck waiting for almost 40 minutes for additional people in tulum, however the delay wasn’t communicated well. The guide’s English for the tour at the ruins wasn’t amazing and most people went off and did their own exploring to meet up later.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Caitlyn_s Thank you for reviewing our Tulum Day-Trip, we appreciate your honest feedback! We are glad to hear your pick-up went smoothly and that your guide was helpful throuought your excursion, we know some of us may have a thick accent but please ask our friendly guides to repeat themselves if you fail to catch something they just shared about our beautiful heritage! Our team is working around the clock to make sure your waiting time for our valued guests is as short as possible, we like to be mindful of everyone so a couple of minutes per stop are given to make sure we can all join this great experience! Hasta Pronto! The Cancun Travel Experience Team
On time and accurate, great day out of Cancun.
Melissa_W, Mar 2024
Our guide Jaqueline was very knowledgeable and up to date on the current archeology. She had a lot of good recommendations for food and shopping. She even worked with a local shopkeeper to help create a splint for my finger. (Broken the previous day.). Really a lovely day of learning and swimming.
Not worth it
Mohan, Feb 2024
Too many pickups, Took about 2-3hours to pick and drop everyone. The guide could not explain well in English.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Mohan Thak you for sharing your feedback for our Tulum Day-Trip, we appreciate your comments. Our Shared Experience daily route is crafted in a manner to avoid long pick-up periods. That being said, for pick-ups from Cancun you can expect the transportation duration to last around 2 hours. Our friendly guides are fully bilingual! While they have an incredible grasp on the english language most of us have an accent, if at any point you need our guide to repeat themself, please let them know! We are all eager to share about our mayan heritage. Regards, The Cancun Travel Experience Team
Jerry was great, but there were somethings to be improved.
Peng_Y, Feb 2024
The Tulum site and cenote were beautiful, and tour guide Jerry was great. However, comparing to the tour at Costa Maya with NativeChoice the day before this tour during our cruise trip, this tour was less organized. The pickup site at Playa del Carmen was far from the ferry station for cruise tourists. The driver also dropped us far from the ferry station even if I requested to be dropped as close as possible because we were in a hurry to catch the ferry. We, 7 people including my 74 yr old mom, run in the midafternoon under strong sunshine for 18 minutes to catch the ferry! The lunch could be better.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Peng_Y Thank you for reviewing our Tulum Day-Trip Experience, we appreciate your valuable feedback. Our teams are always making sure this activity runs smoothly. The pickup provided is the location closest to the ferry, this is due to vehicles not being able to cross the pedestrian-only roads that lead to the Playa del Carmen Ferry. This being a Shared Experience, we valued all of our dear guests time. This is reflected in the route our drivers take to ensure everyone is droped off at the best possible locations. We strongly encourage our guests to check the Private Tour options we have if your group would prefer to enjoy this tour be themselves only! See you soon! The Cancun Travel Experience Team
A long drawn out trip
Nicola_L, Feb 2024
This trip was really disappointing. We were picked up 50mins late then when we finally got to the tulum ruins the guide didn’t give us a huge amount of information about the place. Every part of the trip took forever with a lot of waiting about.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Nicola_L We appreciate your feedback, your comments are very valuable to us in order to keep improving. Our team apologizes for the delay your pick-up had, adverse traffic situation can have a negative impact on our pick-up route. Our guides are very knowledgeable about our Mayan Heritage and can share tons of interesting facts and stories, we recommend our valuable guest to make questions to them so you can have a more tailored experience! They are always eager to share their knowledge! We hope to see you back with us soon. The Cancun Travel Experience Team
A really wonderful day

Tulum Tour
Theresa_J, Feb 2024
The amazing ancient runes and the refreshing cenotes swim. The tour guide was awesome 👍 I highly recommend.
Terrible guide wonderful sites
Barbara_M, Feb 2024
Sites were wonderful. Especially the cenotes. Guide was terrible. Did not have tics to tulum. We had to stand in long line. No plastics so they took our water. We could have left it in the van. Gave very little info about the day or any Mayan history. We were slow walking so we did not have time for lunch. Nothing in the way of snacks were provided. The sites were worth the tour.
Great day, highly recommend!
Karen_F, Feb 2024
Our guide Mary had a wealth of knowledge to share about the ruins and Mayan culture through the ages, and answered any questions we had for her. We learned a lot. She conducted her tour with friendly professionalism and humour. We had a great time and were able to take lots of photos. On to the Cenote. It was beautiful and huge! A great place to cool off after the tour with lots of time to have a swim, relax and explore the site there if we so desired. All in all, we had a great day and highly recommend.
Thank you Mary
Grace_N, Feb 2024
Omg!! What an awesome experience!! I went to Tulum with my boyfriend, and had Mary as our tour guide. She was amazing! My boyfriend is a very curious guy with a lot of questions, and Mary knew the answers to them all! We are a young couple, and met other couples in our tour. It is a small group tour. 8 people total. The ruins are great and beautiful but hot! Bring an umbrella, I was overheated and Mary let me borrow hers which was very nice of her! Another thing to note is to bring a metal / glass water bottle. No plastic allowed in the ruins. The cenote was beautiful!! I forgot the name of our driver but he was amazing as well.
Long Ride, Fun Trip
Kate_B, Jan 2024
Pros: Great tour guide- Jerry Great food Loved the cenotes! Clean bus Cons: This is an “all-day” trip lasting from being the first ones on at 7:00 am to being the last ones dropped off at 7:00 pm. 6 hours of this time is travel time, stopping at different hotels. This was disappointing and the reason I rated my experience a 3/5. Better to book private travel through someone else so you are able to spend your time doing the actual activities rather than driving to it.
Enjoyed our tour with Jerry and Rene
Carah_L, Jan 2024
We really enjoyed the knowledge and experience Jerry shared with our group! The ruins were very beautiful and Jerry taught us about the Mayans and how the calendar and solar system are all related to the ruins. Very educational and beautiful location! The cenote was refreshing and beautiful also!
