What To Expect

Meet your expert guide on the outskirts of Florence, and get a safety briefing and introduction to the famous vintage Fiat 500s.

These ultra-cool 4-seaters are a relatively rare sight on Italy’s roads, so this self-drive tour offers an exciting opportunity to get behind the wheel of one of these iconic vehicles. Get driving instructions and take a practice session. The Fiats have manual gears so if you’re the nominated driver, you’ll need to be confident using them.

Once you’re ready, set off in convoy behind your guide into Tuscany’s beautiful countryside. Trace the peaceful roads across the undulating landscapes, passing leafy vineyards, velvety fields, and cypress groves. Make regular photo stops and after roughly two hours, pull up at an elegant country villa.  Leave your Fiat and relax in the gorgeous surroundings.

Then, dig into a gourmet picnic lunch. Dishes vary but expect local favorites such as bruschetta (tomato and basil on toasted bread), cheese, cold meats, and pasta. Accompany your food with tastings of wines made at the villa.  After the villa, hop into your Fiat again and end your tour back in Florence.

This was a very fun tour. We were a party of four females, three generations. Although it was a hot day we had a great time. Julia's instructions on the vehicles and communication throughout the tour was perfect. Chris (super nice young man) assisted with the driving tour and hosted our picnic lunch at the villa. He is a local and very knowledgable. This tour was one of our favorite memories of Italy. Tip: Allow for plenty of time to get a taxi from Florence to Tuscany. Taxi's were hard to come by in the middle of July.

WOW! I think this has been our favorite Viator ever! We started the day meeting all of our fellow tourist and we were off for a fun day in these cute little cars! Mattia is THE BEST! If you go on this tour, make sure to get him. He is funny and a pro at taking adorable photos. We had the best wine and nibbles afterwards and made some lasting friendships. Highly recommend!

This was the best day we spent in Florence! We loved the experience of driving a vintage fiat through the hills and villages of Tuscany. The memories and photos from that day are spectacular. The winery was a beautiful and fun experience. We got to taste the local wine and we had the best pasta I have ever had make sure you pay for the lunch. We had a private tour of the grounds and because of Nichola's knowledge the property came to life. He is an exceptional group leader who is passionate about all things Tuscany. I will tell everyone I know that they should go on this tour. I will think of this day often!

This tour was the MOST fun we had for 2 weeks in Italy. Nicolo and David are great guides. They are patient and make sure that you understand how to correctly drive the cars. Nicolo would run interference on the road to ensure we could stay together and work well in daily traffic. Speaking of daily traffic: The other drivers were respectful on the road to these cute vintage cars. They exemplify Italian pride. If you can drive stick - you can drive these cute little cars. The countryside is beautiful and it is great to get out of the city! We had the picnic afterwards. David was great company, the food was delicious, the olive oil and wine, both made at the villa, were so good!! Do this great tour, you won't regret it.

This was a fantastic day!! My favorite thing we did in all of Italy. David our guide was fun, easy to understand and very personable. The lunch was wonderful and we soooo enjoyed the wine. Purchased wine and they shipped it home for us. Arrived in perfect condition. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see the Tuscan countryside.

Driving vintage Fiats along the Chianti countryside was a wonderful experience that my husband and I will always cherish. My only complaint was that after talking to another family who was also on our trip, was that they paid 240 Euros for a family of four through tripadvisor, and we paid 350 US dollars for the exact same tour through Viator. One other suggestion would be to bring bug spray as I got 34 mosquito bites when we at our lunch poolside.

We had the best time on this tour with our amazing guide Nicolo!!! It was just me, my boyfriend, and Nicolo. We really became friends with him we couldn't have asked for better guide!! The tour was amazing, we rode around Tuscany and he offered to take pictures of us wherever we stopped. The villa was GORGEOUS but it was raining so we couldn't swim. Just when we though it couldn't get better, the wine tasting just as great! The wine was incredible and all made at the villa. There was also incredible food. This was the best tour we have ever been on and we plan on coming back!

This was a great although there was a wedding booked in at the villa, so rather than sitting by and enjoying the pool we were put into the wine cellar which was actually quite nice and cool in comparison to outside however, not what we were expecting. And although Viator will let you book the wine making session, it is not available until August at the earliest so we were disappointed we weren't able to do this. However this wasn't the fault of the company that ran the tour, rather that of Viator The service the company ran I could not recommend enough! The starting location is very easy to find, taking about 30 mins on the bus from central Florence and very simple to find and navigate. We were given a quick run down on the cars and the dreaded double clutch it's simple once there's been a demonstration given and a quick test drive in the private grounds and then we were off! At a good pace and following as a convoy it was a truly unique experience! Although our little Topsy broke down half way through these are classic vintage cars don't forget we were able to swap and drive a different car so we didn't lose out on the experience. Then the food afterwards was great too with the opportunity to buy some of the wine made there at the villa, all in all a very unique experience.

This trip was fantastic. Very well organised, the cars were in fantastic condition and the views driving around Tuscany were exceptional. The lunch was very nice, lots of local fresh produce and plenty of wine to wash it down! We had a good chat and laugh with the other people on the tour. The double clutch took a bit of getting used too but after that it felt really special to be driving around Tuscany in a piece of history. Especially with the excellent music playing to accompany us!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Italy! The Fiat 500 cars were fun to drive- knowledge of manual transmission is a must. Driving through the Chianti countryside was scenic and the picnic at the villa afterwards was fantastic! Highly recommend this tour.
