For guests staying at a North Shore or Princeville hotel, the meeting point is at the Outrigger Waipouli Hotel in Kapa'a. Parking is available at the municipal parking lot near the Outrigger Waipouli Hotel. The tour times provided reflect the start and end of the tour, but not your exact pickup location and pickup time. Whether or not you've provided your hotel/lodging at the time of booking, you are required to contact the tour provider no less than (2) days prior to your tour date to receive your exact pickup time and location. The tour provider will advise you of the specific area at the hotel/lodging you should wait; for example, "at the front entrance." Please be there at least 5 minutes before your pickup time. Please allow a 10-15 minute grace period, as the driver will be picking up other guests in your area. If your hotel/lodging is not included on our pickup schedule, you'll be advised to meet at nearby location. Please note that we are prohibited by certain properties to pick up non-hotel guests and we do not pick-up at private properties such as Airbnb’s and residential areas.

What To Expect

The largest canyon in the Pacific, Waimea Canyon stretches 10 miles (16 km) long, 1 mile (1.6 km) wide and more than 3,600 feet (1,097 m) deep. Its cavernous expanse was created by the movement of water flowing down from Mount Waialeale over thousands of years. Your tour of this natural wonder begins with morning hotel pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach. Learn about the history of Kauai and the island’s changing landscape as you make your way west.

Pass through the historic town of Hanapepe, a popular stomping ground for soldiers during World War II and the shooting location for many films and TV shows. Further down along Hawaii’s southern coast, stop at the Spouting Horn natural blowhole to watch ocean waves spray high into the air, and see the luxurious resorts that line the golden beaches of Poipu. Take a break from sightseeing with lunch at a local restaurant (own expense).

Watch the tropical landscape turn into a red clay desert of rocky basalt outcroppings as you drive up to the lip of Waimea Canyon. Stop at several vista points along the way to snap photos, and then soak in the breathtaking scenery at the top of the canyon as you gaze down into the cavernous expanse of layered red lava rock. Wind your way back out of the canyon, and relax on the return drive to your hotel.

Jonna our tour guide and driver. She was excellent. She was informative and navigated the roads well. She gave us ample time at all stops. Lunch was very nice and the food was very good (pork and cheese on a roll and my wife had the chicken and pepper jack cheese with grilled onions). The stop at the blow hole and the coffee plantation was fun. I would recommend this tour.

Lucky taught us about the history of the islands as well as his personal history as a backdrop to pointing out the details of the gorgeous natural scenery we were observing. He even taught us several Hawaiian words. Fun and informative.

The entire drive was wonderful! Lucky gave an impressive explanation of history of Kauai. He is so knowledgeable, patient and kind. The pinnacle of the tour was the falls. It was breathtaking!

A Very Wet and Rainy Day to Attempt to See the Canyon Views

Stops along the winding road to view water falls and the canyon photography. Some of the stops were challenging at best to get a view SAFELY!!! For the price a bit of a disappointment!

Rosario was a great guide! He effectively balances professionalism, humor, and vast knowledge and experience. He knows Kuai, and he loves Kuai. He went above and beyond when my wife got suddenly sick and made sure she had what she needed to be comfortable.

The tour was amazing because of our guide Sabrina. She was very knowledgeable and made sure to point out certain landmarks and views if we were driving past it. The view at all of our stops were breathtaking, and she was so excited that we finally has a sunny day to see everything. She even moved around our itinerary, just so we can get the most out of our experience at certain times of the day. Most of all, she said she loved Wisconsin and the Green Bay Packers (where we were from) so that was a plus! I liked how she shared her personal stories with us, and I would love her as a guide again and again! Mahalo! ❤️

The tour guide was the worst in my decades of traveling. He knew 3 facts and repeated only those 3 facts throughout the entire tour (saying the same 3 things over 12 times each). He had no personality or interest in making the tour a fun experience. It was a complete waste of my time/day and money. I'd like my money back so that I could book a similar tour with a more competent guide. Thank you.

I was so happy that the rain cleared and we had a great view of the canyon. I had been there 30 years ago and it was raining so I regretfully missed it. The lunch was lovely and we enjoyed the pleasant venue. A big thank you to the tour guide.

Our tour guide Sabrina was awesome! She provided tons of information about the island and its history, the cities and towns we passed through and of course about the canyon. She answered any question and made it really fun by sharing personal experiences growing up on the island. The scenery was fantastic. This is an excellent tour that allows you to see southern and west side of the island. There are plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the sites, eat a great lunch, and get refreshments and souvenirs. Highly recommend this tour.

Great tour! The price was great for value. You get to see a lot of Kauai and all its beauty. Ocean, mountains, canyons, sun, and coffee! Sabrina our tour guide was AMAZING: a wealth of knowledge. She adjusted the trip order so that we got the best views at the best time of day. She was friendly and upbeat. And she made even the time in the best entertaining. I loved it!
