What To Expect

Hop aboard your air-conditioned coach in Central London, and leave the city’s crowds behind as you journey into the English countryside on your day trip. En route, put on your state-your-art Vox headphones to clearly hear your guide’s commentary, and gain fascinating insight into the passing sights.

Head to the picturesque county of Kent, and arrive at Leeds Castle: a 12th-century castle encircled by a moat and parklands. Head inside and take a private tour before the doors open to the public. Admire the opulent rooms filled with rich furniture, tapestries, and artworks, and learn how the castle was once a residence of medieval monarchs. 
Stroll through the gardens, and perhaps navigate your way through the maze, a puzzle of geometric yew hedges.

Next, drive to the ancient city of Canterbury, home to UNESCO-listed Canterbury Cathedral: a center of Christian worship for nearly 1,000 years. Founded in 597 and rebuilt in the 11th and 12th centuries, this majestic church is one of England’s oldest. 

Head into this serene cathedral (if option selected), and enjoy the special privilege of a guided tour in your large group, as you listen to your guide’s commentary via your headphones. As you explore, learn about the church’s bloodiest hour—the day in 1170 when four knights of Henry II stormed inside and murdered Archbishop Thomas Becket.

Back on your coach, continue through pretty villages toward Dover on Kent’s south coast. Here, snap photos of the famous White Cliffs of Dover. Learn why this site is important to the English, and see England's largest castle, Dover Castle, rising from a hilltop.

The tour was great. The coach was clean and comfortable. Evans Evans location was easy to find and the staff were friendly and efficient. Our guide, Sheila, was absolutely amazing! She was so knowledgeable and friendly. She gave great information and history at each site, as well as along the journey to each stop. She absolutely made the trip so special. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Connecting the dots of so much history.

Kevin was the perfect tour guide with great history sharing and ‘connecting the dots’ as to how these places fit together and the history we knew. Canterbury was beautiful, the Cliffs of Dover - moving and Leeds castle was a fantastic stop as well. Kevin guided us through Canterbury cathedral at the perfect speed and enthusiasm. It truly was a wonderful day.

Perfect Guided Tour to Kent

Deborah was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable of British history and threw in great humor into the tour. Maria was an amazing coach bus driver as well and took us past beautiful scenic routes in Kent. Leeds Castle, Canterbury and the White Cliffs were all stunning. We would do this tour again in a heartbeat!

Our guide was rowan, and the driver was Marlon and Rowan was the best travel guide we have ever had with Viator and Marlin was a superior driver. Rowan‘s knowledge of British history was fabulous and she understood just about everything we would gladly go with her again. In fact the next time we were here we are going to ask specifically for Rowan and hopefully Marlin has the driver.

A nice trip

Leeds Castle was very nice, and the Canterbury Cathedral was mesmerizing. The bus was uncomfortable as seats were too close ( it was not the regular red Evan Evan’s tour bus). The guide was talking too much and very fast and giggling at her own jokes. It was a bit annoying. Cliffs of Dover was a waste of time.

My husband and I had a memorable day on our tour of Leeds Castle, Canterbury Cathedral and city and Dover. Our tour guide Ruth was exceptional. She was a wealth of knowledge about all of our sites and made the trip a wonderful experience. Our driver was Michael Angelo and again very professional and pleasant. Mostly on the bus, Not much tour

This tour is well organized by Evan Evans and well represented in the description, and our guide Simon was both competent and friendly. Nevertheless, the tour itself was fairly ill-conceived: To begin with, of this 10 hour tour, we spent slightly over half that time on the bus. It took us 2 hours to first get to Leeds Castle, where we spent 1.5 hours. The multimedia audio tour of the 1920's-renovated castle took about 30 minutes. After that you can walk around, but the rest of the site is very family and child-oriented. Then 50 minutes by bus to a port in Dover where you can only take a photo of some cliffs in the distance and the castle there, a 20 minute stop. Then back on the bus for a 30 minute trip to the busport in Canterbury. We there received a 10 minute walking tour with Simon of the 3 blocks to the cathedral. There was no guided tour of the cathedral included. Then we had about 90 minutes free in Canterbury to see the cathedral, shop, grab a bite to eat, and get back for the 2 hour bus trip back to the Victoria Coach Station. Travel times were impacted by the terrible traffic in London. On the whole, I wish I had foregone the Leeds castle and Dover trips and just taken a train to Canterbury. So, even though Evan Evans did a fine job organizing and running this tour, I don't recommend it.
