What To Expect

Make your way to the Kahului Heliport prior to your morning or afternoon tour departure time (call local operator on the day of travel to confirm exact tour time). Board an ASTAR helicopter with six forward-facing seats that all provide unobstructed 180-degree views, and take off for your scenic helicopter ride.

Fly over the ridges of West Maui and over the Pailolo Channel to the island of Molokai, where views of virtually untouched sea cliffs, rain forests, and waterfalls await. Then, land at a private oceanfront spot on Maui’s North Shore for a change of perspective on the ground. Take in the view before continuing across the West Maui Mountains and back to the heliport.

Your tour includes guided narration about the history and geography of Maui for a trip equal parts thrilling and informative, and the entire trip is recorded and available for purchase on a USB at the end of the flight.

  • Total weight per passenger: 240 lbs
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 3 days of travel. In this case confirmation will be received within 48 hours, subject to availability

  • Infants must sit on laps
  • Most travelers can participate
  • Weight Restrictions: Due to FAA regulations, all passengers must be weighed at check-in. For each single passenger weighing 240 pounds or more, combined weights of 420 lbs per couple, or for groups of 3 or more an average weight of 200lbs or more an additional seat must be purchased at time of booking. This is for the safety and comfort of all passengers. It is important to provide accurate body weight at checkout.
  • It is recommended that all passengers wear dark clothing to help have less reflection in the windows when flying and therefore you can get better photos during your tour
  • Flight routes & sights may vary due to weather
  • Infants under 24 months must sit on an adult lap. PLEASE CONTACT AIR MAUI IF BRINGING AN INFANT. Over 24 months must occupy their own paid seat.
  • Please contact Air Maui directly for your check in and departure time at least 72 hours prior to your flight!
  • Not wheelchair accessible. There is no wheelchair lift to accommodate wheelchair passengers nor can the staff personally/physically assist people into the helicopter
  • Helicopter is a shared cabin holding 6 passengers and one pilot on each flight.
  • No bags allowed on board. This includes a purse, fanny pack, backpack, etc.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 6 travelers

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Kirk was the best pilot! We never would have known he does these tours time after time. He puts so much heart into the stories he tells and goes out of his way to get us the best views. Cannot recommend enough!! If you get motion sick, don’t eat before you go 🤣

The only disappointing experience of my once in a lifetime Maui trip. The cramped seating, dirty windows were difficult to see anything and impossible to take a picture from. The pilot gave no interesting island information. The video was of just us in the helicopter, the cliffs were my specific request and was told yes they are on the video but they are not, no waterfalls, none of the scenes I’d hoped for and bought the video to have. The people were super nice but sadly, that does not make up for the inability to have photos of the sites and information about the different islands. I will forever regret wasting my precious Maui time on this experience.

My first time helicopter ride was AMAZING and I'd definitely do it again. This was the epitome of my 75th birthday celebration in Hawaii. Our pilot, Vince, was very knowledgeable about the islands, made us all feel comfortable and at ease as some (not me!) were a little nervous. BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!

It was a nice flight. The pilot gave us a good tour. We were able to get back in the canyon on Maui with waterfalls, I forget the name., but very cool.The landing was a great spot. Thought we were getting champagne ?? I have flown with Air Maui before and was also good. One downfall, can't talk to the pilot in flight. Been on other flights that have that option. They might want to upgrade to that. Video is a nice touch {cash discount} I recommend to get it. One other thing..a charge for parking...at the price of the flight they should include that ?
