For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.

Guide David was amazing. He pointed out orher areas of intrest as well as explaining the history of what we were seeing. We really enjoyed visiting the crypts and catacombs.

Confined Catacombs

Our guide was most pleasant and knowledgeable but the local guide at the catacombs could not be heard at all times. Small group of 15 is too large for the confined, narrow and angular space.

Not the 15 member group as advertised.

Finding the tour starting point was very easy, with a short walk to the Crypt, which my wife had to wait as they didn't have a ticket for her to enter, as there were 16 people not 15 as the group says. We all got head phones, but it was rather rushed as we didn't get to listen to everything, the guide told us what we had to listen too, and missed quite a few sections out. After the crypt, we had a 15 minute walk to the bus to take us to the catacombs. I booked this 15 person tour as my grandson has Autism, and he doesn't like large groups, he was very intrested at loved the crypt, but the group at the catacombs was about 50, and it was starting to upset him, but he coped and didnt have a melt down, if I had known the group would have been so large I would never have booked it. Tour guide was very knowledgable, but he was the French guide giving the English tour, so some time he's struggled, still a good tour.

Thought provoking tour of catacombs and crypts

Our guide Marco was great- he was knowledgeable and we had a bit of history and sightseeing from the bus on way to the catacombs. It was nice after some days of walking miles of museums and sights to be taken to/from on a bus- it was really comfortable! At the catacombs, Mark was our guide and he was great- answered all our questions and we learned a lot. It was a great site- in my family it was one of our favourite things we did in Rome. The crypts were wild- like nothing I’ve ever seen. Really worth a visit. The audio guide was good too- not heavy in content like they sometimes are.

Great Final Tour to End Our Italian Adventure!

My 18 year old daughter and I ended our trip in Rome with this tour. It was the afternoon of our last day. We really enjoyed the experience! Our guide Davide was great! He shared a wealth of knowledge about the Crypt and the Catacombs, as well as local history that brought it all together. We were really fortunate that he was able to tour us through the Crypt, which is apparently unusual, as they normally have audio tour headsets and tour guides are not allowed to do it. It was fantastic! But even before going in, he had explained some of the details that would have helped in understanding this unique site. It is not a site of “gore” or “macabre”, but almost a celebration of life and the life yet to come if you are a believer in the Christian faith. Really interesting! (We were also fortunate to have a group of only 8, which joined another group for the bus to the Catacombs. The other guide, Fiona, was also super! She gave the tour details on the bus trip to the Catacombs and part of the return.) The Catacombs were also fascinating. Davide did not tour us through that part, but the Catacomb tour guide did a nice job explaining the history and significance of this unique site as well. We ended up in a much larger group in the Catacombs than even that guide expected, but it worked out okay. Such an interesting place! I was wondering the day of the tour whether I should have just booked these sites individually and gone without a tour. Honestly, I don’t believe I would have gotten as much out of it. Davide really provided such great and meaningful information! And, to get to the Catacombs, you have to go out of the city walls. It would have cost quite a bit to get to (via taxi/uber) or been more complicated via another transport. I doubt we would have even gone there without the tour! My daughter, who prefers exploring places on her own, even gave it a 5! Fantastic time!!! Thanks, Davide and Fiona.

I would say there was a bit of bait and switch with this tour. It was supposed to be a small group tour with no more than 15 people. However, our group had 20+ in it and then they combine two groups for the busses so you end up wasting a lot of time waiting. In addition, there was duplicative tour guides. We had our small group tour guide who mostly faced forward and talked so maybe five people at the front of the group could hear him and then at the catacombs the location gives you a tour guide and then at the Crypts they give you an audio device to listen to the tour. The crypts are located just a few blocks from where the tour picks up and an easy walk. The catacombs are outside the city and do require some sort of transportation. I would say skip this tour and just do it on your own, you aren't missing anything and saving yourself some money.

Not a Small Group

While I highly recommend that you go to the crypt and the catacombs, I would just find a way to do it on your own, as there is not really an additional tour included in this package. You walk to the crypt from the meeting point and you are given an audio guide and at the catacombs you have to join a large group where a guide employed by the catacombs gives the tour. The tour guide waits for you at the exit. In addition, my tour group had 18 people in it and there was another group from the same company with about the same number that we traveled with via bus, so this was not a small group of 15, it was two groups of roughly 18 each, so we were traveling in a group of 35+ all day, so considering that the guides employed by this company are not the ones giving the tours, just go to the crypt and use the audio guide (as we did) and then take a taxi/Uber to the catacombs and join the same group tour that we were forced to use.

Great tour! We enjoyed the catacombs and the crypt itself was intriguing and interesting. If you are one to want to enjoy the crypt museum first and take your time, you may want to do that separately without a tour. The tour guide we had for the catacombs was fantastic (Mark).
