Island Hopping the day Away
Leslie_A, Jun 2023
Our family of four enjoyed our day with Velariilo visiting Mazzorbo, Burano and Murano. Mazzorbo was very quaint and very much off the beaten path. There wasn't much to see there except for a church and a vineyard tho and it was a lot of walking!! We absolutely fell in love with Burano (our favorite of the three islands). Valerio took great care to keep us away from the crowded tourist areas while still allowing us to experience the beauty of Burano. The colorful houses are very much worth seeing! We also visited an original Italian lace store and were able to witness lace making in progress. It was fascinating. We spent the least amount of time in Murano. It was lovely but we were exhausted by the time we got there. We went to a blown glass showroom where Valerio once worked and saw some amazing pieces. We also went to a small shop where a friend of Valerio's, Monica, works on blowing beads for jewelry and other glass works. It was fun to see her blow a bead for us but I must admit, we were really looking forward seeing a full glass blowing demonstration. After the tour, Valerio arranged for lunch at 9ne of his favorite restaurants on the island and it was superb. It was a very long day, we got back to Venice at 3:30 and logged almost 12,000 steps, but very much worth the experience of seeing new places.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with me. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your day with Valerio and that you fell in love with Burano. From your review it was like the walking part of the tour was a bit challenging for you, although 30% of the tour is water bus transfers which are usually quite relaxing, providing time to rest and admire confortably seated the unique landscape of the lagoon. For you next visit you might book a different tour such as a boat tour which involve less walking. I am glad you appreciated the efforts that I always make to offer exclusive experiences off the beaten path and beyond tourist clichés: for this reason a glass blowing demo, which is meant for tourist entertainment only, was not offered and instead you had the chance to meet and interact with an authentic glass lampworking artisan, bringing further a tradition from the XVI. I see as a plus the fact I am a local guide living in Murano, the local artisan is a lovely person and a friend of mine or the fact I had a working experience in the glass industry. I hope you had a great time despite you were very tired after walking during a walking tour. Hopefully see you next time and please tell me if you are tired, we could have done and extra stop!
Stunning!...

Valerio was the BEST tour guide on our north Italy trip! So very personable, and communicated with us DIRECTLY which was amazing, and better than any other excursion! Was very neat to see the "islands" AND the "mainland"....You really don't realize how BIG Venice is....its truly a city on water! Water taxi all day for $25 bucks, WOOT! SO.MANY.ISLANDS....a must do tour in a must do city! This place was simply amazing and beautiful. We miss you already Valerio, HUGS!

We really enjoyed this tour. Valerio is a great host and I very much appreciated that he took us to places that gave us a feel for how people actually live on the islands. Seeing the garden in Mazzorbo was truly a breath of fresh air. It was also interesting to get the perspective of someone who actually lives on one of the islands.
