One of just two so-called “petrified waterfalls” in the world, Hierve el Agua—which literally translates to "Water Boils"—is a rock formation with cliff-top pools above it. Visitors can cool off in natural spring waters, which are touted to have healing properties, then hike down to the base of the waterfalls.

Hierve el Agua is currently closed to the public as a result of a local land dispute.

Hierve de Agua is a must see!
I highly recommend the trip to Hierve el Agua, and this Viator tour was a great and reasonable way to do that. Very nice comfortable van and knowledgeable pleasant guide. The stop at the bakery/store for snacks was a nice touch. I would recommend using a local guide while at the cascadas - the locals know where to take the best pictures. The trek to the base of the large cascada and back up was exhausting for an old woman with a desk job - but so worth it. The mineral waters felt amazing!

Fantastic, unique boutique tour. So refreshing
We had a great tour to Hierve el Agua, we particularly liked how refreshing and boutique the tour was, not only was our guide incredibly lovely and informative, we loved that it didn’t feel as restrictive as other tours do. We also loved and appreciated that the number/ time spent at other locations visited weren’t as long as the main spectacle :)

The highlight of our tour to Mexico
This was one of the best days on our vacation in Mexico! In addition to going to Hierve el agua, we had some fun stops on the way, for instance one of the oldest trees in the world, and we ended the evening with Mezcal tasting. Also the lunch was very tasty with all you can eat-buffet and delicious Mexican food. Our lovely guide played one song from each country for all nationalities in the bus- very creative! A memory for life! 100 % recommended!
