What To Expect

Make your way to central Amsterdam prior to your departure. With your small group, climb aboard a luxury minivan, fully equipped with air conditioning and on-board Wi-Fi. Relax in your seat and enjoy the views of the passing landscape during the ride.

Arrive at Kinderdijk, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Explore the windmill complex, including the mills, pumping stations, and dykes, evidence of Dutch inventiveness. Stop at the visitor center to watch a film about the site, and you might even be able to visit the interior of a working windmill.

Back in the van, travel to The Hague, the largest city in Amsterdam which is also the seat of the Dutch government and home to the royal family. Take a city tour in the van, stopping by highlights such as the Peace Palace, the International Criminal Court, and the International Court of Justice.

Make a stop for lunch (own expense), then choose from one of three activities to explore on your own. Stop at Mauritshuis, a museum contains works by both Dutch and international artists, such as Warhol, Rembrandt, and Vermeer. Or you can opt to visit Escher in Het Paleis: This former royal winter palace now homes over 120 prints of the famous M.C. Escher. Or if you're looking for a more playful activity, visit the miniature world of Madurodam to see and learn about Dutch highlights and heritage.

Excellent trip. The windmills really were something special. There are museum ones you can enter and look around. Plenty of information provided about how they work and their history. The stop and the delft factory was really lovely. It gave a great overview of how it's made and there is absolutely no pressure to buy anything. The tour of the Hague included all the highlights and it was great to see the painting"Girl with a pearl earring". Bram is an excellent guide and really it is he who makes the trip so good. He is very personable and easy going and full of information. He was enthusiastic and really wanted us to have a good trip.

Just Say NO!
Anne_A, Apr 2024
I agree with many of the other reviewers - DO NOT book this "tour." Here's why: 1. The meeting place is quite a hub, which is fine, but we were given no information as to how to find the "guide" - no signs, no prior email, etc. 2. The guide was a driver. We received no facts or history during the drive. 3. When we reached The Hague, we were presented with tickets for Maruitshuis. When I told the driver I wanted to see the Escher museum, he said he didn't know anything about it. No apology, no contacting the company to see what could be done. I had to walk there and pay for my own ticket. 4. After the museum time, we made one 5-minute stop for pictures at a palace. I was hoping to at least drive by the International Criminal Court. As we drove through the city, we received no history or information about it. I am EXTREMELY ANGRY that I paid such a large sum for something I could have done by train for a lot cheaper - and a less crowded vehicle.
AVOID at ALL COSTS

This is HORRIBLE. DO NOT BOOK. It’s a taxi driver. That’s all. A guy with a mini van NOT a tour. No narrative. No guide. No water. No Wi-Fi. Just a pick up a drop off at two sites and return. Mini van has six seats, three of which are backwards. We rode for four hours round trip backwards and in the middle so saw nothing along the way. Driver was a nice guy but they just hired him out like a taxi. This is not a tour in any respect. Kinderjick was nice and a must see. We just got dropped in The Hague on our own. It’s a guy who is a taxi driver who does the route for this irrefutable tour company. DO NOT book this tour. Find a similar one with a bona fide company. Viator’s business model is to have as many tour operators “aggregated” on its site. There is NO screening. NO vetting. NO quality control. This is a guy in a van who gives you tickets and takes you to the sites in a cramped van riding backwards. AVOID this
Transportation only
JODI_T, Apr 2024
The trip stated that there was live commentary. There was not. It was transportation to and from the sites. The driver dropped us off at each site, left, then picked us up. No bottled water included.
Beautiful sites, negative experience
rdsinnett, Apr 2024
I have been on many tours in several countries: I must say this was among the worst, especially for the price. In short, the itinerary wasn't fulfilled. The good: we traveled safely and arrived back at the dropoff point. Kinderdijk was very interesting and definitely worth a visit. What we saw briefly at The Hague was nice. The bad: The van was cramped, 8 total passengers. The driver was a driver, not a guide: we got a total of maybe 10 minutes of commentary for the whole trip. We were NOT given a choice of places to visit once in The Hague. When we asked the driver, he advised he didn't know anything about it and there wasn't time ... (so we got Mauritshuis or nothing). The highlights tour of The Hague consisted of a brief stop for photo at the palace. Upon returning to Amsterdam the driver asked where we were staying and offered to drop us there... for 20 euros per party. No bottled water provided. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this tour.
Kinderdijk experience
Angie_C, Apr 2024
This is basically a taxi service with a guy who barely speaks English. Plan to spend most of the day with 7 others in a six seater mini van. If you want to see Kinderdijk and this is your only way, then do it. That’s how we ended up on this service. The service also states you have tickets to the palace and you do not! Honestly $434 wasted. We could have rented a car service for less. Lesson learned! Viator needs to remove this from the site offerings.
Alles Good

It was all very good seeing and experiencing the windmills at Kinderdijk and our guide was excellent
Jan was excellent at...
Jennifer_W, Nov 2023
Jan was excellent at giving historical context and providing interesting facts about Holland and things we were driving past. He was a knowledgeable guide and a good driver too. Enjoyed not having to navigate times, entrance tickets or the roads. My husband and I could relax and take in the beautiful buildings and surroundings
Our great tour!
Linda_D, Sep 2023
The windmills are amazing, and so was the Girl With the Pearl Earring! We were a bit confused about the exact meeting spot—maybe add a photo to the website to make it a little easier to find the right place. We were pleased that the tour wasn’t cancelled because there were just two of us. Jan, the driver, gave us great information all along the way.
A Lovely and Interesting Day
Connie_Y, Jun 2023
It was a beautiful and interesting ride from Amsterdam as the guide explained points of interest along the way. The windmills at Kinderdijk were also very interesting and the area there was beautiful. Be sure to watch the film first and if possible download the app prior to going. It will make the experience even better. You will need to link your actual ticket that you will receive to the app when you arrive there but have the app ready. It will give you commentary as you walk along. We then went to The Hague. That also was interesting as we saw the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, many foreign embassies, and the Peace Palace. Then we had lunch on our own at a lovely Italian restaurant on the courtyard opposite the Mauritshuis. After lunch we toured the Mauritshuis museum and enjoyed seeing work by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, Leyster, and many others. It was a great trip. We returned back to the starting point around 5 pm.

A meaningful trip to see the Kinderdijk windmills. The Mauritshuis museum is worth a visit. Love their collection!
A good day out of Amsterdam.
Jeffrey_G, Jun 2022
Excellent trip for seeing the iconic symbol of the Netherlands (windmills). Also, the time in the Hague and Mauritius Huis are a well spent day.

Explore the inside of 280 year old windmills.
David_M, May 2022
Kinderdijk is not only a wonderfully preserved group of windmills, but you get to go inside them and see what it is like to live in one. There are also mill workers present to explain the workings and history. I enjoyed that the site was authentic and not touristy. Also, the driver pointed out interesting landmarks and history along the entire route, especially in The Hague.

Not what we expected
woodskatie12, Apr 2022
Not what we expected. We thought we were signing up for a small group tour (8 people), and ended up being just us. It turned out being less of a “tour” and more of a private driver transporting us places. We didn’t get the tour guide experience of learning about the places we were visiting that we had hoped for. The “live-commentary” was completely absent. Our driver was nice and eager, but not a tour guide. We even tried asking questions, but that didn’t seem to help with explanations. If we had known it was going to be a private driver, we would’ve done some more research ahead of time (the driver kept asking us where we wanted to go, even when we asked for recommendations). Or we would have preferred being notified that it was going to be just us and given the option to change to a different tour. We loved Kinderdijk, but we were disappointed that we didn’t really get a tour of The Hague that we had been looking for. We could have ultimately paid for our own transportation and entrance for a cheaper price.

An excellent way to see important sights of Netherlands and Belgium
georgemI2889BQ, Oct 2019
The tour was just the right size. A total of 6 visitors in a Mercedes minivan. The sights were extremely worth seeing, especially through the very knowledgeable eyes and words of our guide. It was rainy and windy most of the day but that didn't bother or minimize our enjoyments of the Delft factory, the Kinderdijk windmills, the fabulous Maritshuis Museum in the Hague or the very intimate sightseeing tour of the Hague.
Great tour

Bram was a great tour guide! Bonus stop at Delft to see how it was made. Saw the Girl with the Pearl Earring! Windmills were great!
Easily the best tour of our Amsterdam...
John F, Sep 2018
Easily the best tour of our Amsterdam trip. Our guide Gon John was superb explaining all of the major sites along the way. Kinderdijk was wonderful. We had over 2 hours to explore which allowed us to see the Visitors Center movie, take a boat trip along the canal, and visit the inside of one of the windmills. We then proceeded to the Hague where we had a brief driving tour of the city and then stopped at the Mauritshuis Museum where we got to see the Girl With a Pearl Earring and other master works. We had time to lunch at the excellent museum cafe and enough time to walk the the grounds of the Dutch Parliament. We then drove to Delftse Pauw, one of the 2 remaining Delft factories located in Delft. After a brief tour we were able to shop in their extensive gift shop. It was then back to Amsterdam to complete our 9 hour day. We highly recommend this tour. There were only 3 couples on the Mercedes Van so it was nice a private.
Great small group tour to Kinderdijk...
dwight.horkheimer, Nov 2017
Great small group tour to Kinderdijk and The Hague. Our group was very small, just the two of us, as we were the only ones signed up for that day. So we received a very personal and personalized tour for the small group price. Thank you. Greatly enjoyed the visit to Kinderdijk on a nice day for Amsterdam area to walk around the area. Also enjoyed our visit to The Hague.
Excellent tour if you want to see...
GAIL C, Sep 2017
Excellent tour if you want to see and photograph windmills. Kinderdijk is a wonderful world heritage sight- pay the extra 5 euros for the hop on/ hop off boat ride along the canal. Touring The Hague was interesting and visiting the Mauritshuis to see Vermeer's 'Girl with the Pearl Earring' was brilliant. Overall, a wonderful day tour out of Amsterdam. Bram was an excellent driver and commentator.
