A must see
MaryK_M, May 2024
Wonderful views and lots of history. Ramon was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable. There is so much to see in the area. We felt this tour was time well spent.
Great tour

Ruben was a wonderful tour guide, he was very knowledgeable about the fabulous sites we visited. The group was small so it felt like a private tour. Would recommend to anyone looking for something outside of the city. We loved it!

Our guide, Dulce, was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to experience such beautiful countryside villages. The history and architecture is fascinating!
It was a very long day...about 10 hrs.
Katherine_D, Apr 2024
Great views of the countryside. Guide was a bit hard to understand. Although he was was a very nice gentleman we had many times where he was hard to understand. He spoke kind of low.
Wonderful Sights

Loved that there are fewer tourists on the tour, and the locations and sights were wonderful. Xavi was wonderful host, and is very interested in improving his English.
A great tour outside Barcelona
Serafina_D, Mar 2024
We booked the small group tour, which was only 4 people plus the guide/driver. It was a pleasant day that wasn't rushed and we saw heaps of medieval villages and got great photos. We especially enjoyed our tour guide/driver Ramon, he was great to talk to and very knowledgeable of the places we visited. Very enjoyable tour. Recommended
Great photo stops

It was great to see Spain away from the big cities. We had a very nice group (all English-speaking). Xavi was very organised. He is a safe driver. He has a great knowledge of a lot of topics. As you may have read in other reviews: his English is not always understandable. However, you will get the gist or it is not that important or please keep the flyers he hands out at every stop which have a lot of explanations. I felt the tour was worth it. We had ample time to stroll the towns we went to and there are restrooms in all the stops.
Excellent Experience

Luis is a terrific guide! He provided so much information and history about each place we visited. Luis knew exactly where to take us so we could see as much as possible during this one day adventure. We highly recommend this tour!
Wonderful Day Trip

Xavier, our guide was a wealth of information. He had a perfect balance of giving us time to explore on our own and time showing us interesting points of interest.

Medieval day

We especially liked Rupit and Besalu as really cool medieval towns. Loved walking through the narrow streets and envisioning what life must have been back then.
Great tour beyond Barcelona. Worth it.

Our guide, Xaiz met us in the lobby of our hotel at 7:55 and we headed off. We picked up one other guest, and we were off. The first part of our tour was a 40 minute drive to the city of Vic. Since it was Sunday and when we arrived it was only 9:30 the entire town was quiet and very little was open so our tour was easy. Xaiz took us through the city and showed us three churches, each with very ornate work at their alters. We saw the small section of the original city wall and two towers that are still visible and standing and a very picturesque old bridge. The city had very unique “ash trays” built at each of the city’s original 7 (seven) city gates that showed the original walled city map. After Vic, we left and drove about 20 minutes to an vantage point to view Castellfollit de la Roca is a town that is built on a narrow rock penensula that sticks up above the surrounding area over 50 meters (160 feet) high and almost a kilometer long. It was formed by the overlaying of two lava flows. After Castellfollit de la Roca, we drove another 15 minutes to Santa Pau is a very attractive and well-preserved medieval village. Its main square, the 13th century Placa Major is surrounded by arcaded stone buildings and is also home to the Romanesque church of Santa Maria. Santa Pau was a very tiny village with narrow streets that cars could just barely squeeze through. All of the houses had been occupied since the 1600 and 1700’s. While there we had a lunch of local Tapa’s that Xaiz recommended. Some croquets, beans and sausage, bread and tomatoes; potatoes. It was all pretty good. After lunch we drove another 15 minutes to Besalú. The Medieval bridge entering the town is the emblem of the town, is an angular design with seven uneven arcs and two towers. The town was very pretty and interesting but it did seem more commercialized. Much more so after just visiting Santa Pau. After leaving Besalu, we started back to Barcelona. The drive would take us about 1 ½ hours and we arrived at about 6:15pm. We decided to have Xaiz drop us off at La Familia Sangrata instead of our hotel because we figured we would not have time to see it any other time. When we got there Xaiz commented that it was strange that it wasn’t lit up and the police had the road blocked and so many people were there, he determined that there must be something special happening at 7:00pm and it was 6:50. Xaiz dropped us off and we bid him good by and we walked to the corner where we could see a little better and yes, there was some sort of event happening that we were able to watch. In all, it was a very full day and worth it. Xaiz was an excellent guide and kept us on time and made it interesting with his knowledge.
A highlight of our trip

Xavi/Xavier was our tour guide. Upon learning who our guide would be, I looked at the reviews and was nervous to find out that many mentioned him and his inability to speak English well. Although we found this to be true, his big smile, obvious passion for his country and kind heart made me instantly glad he was our guide. Yes, at times, it was hard to understand what he was trying to convey but he always supplemented with printed information in English. His lunch recommendation was spot on and he always made sure to allow plenty of free time for adventuring on our own. Well done, Xavi!

Beautiful medieval towns
Lisa_J, Aug 2023
We really enjoyed seeing the medieval towns. My son is learning Spanish and in his 4th year of studying it. Our guide was very patient and listened to him when he spoke in Spanish and encouraged him to speak in the language. My son felt in just one day he was able to improve his language vocabulary and fluency.
Superb

Be aware of Viator Tour Guides Languages
Victoria_Z, May 2023
I paid for a tour in English. I got a tour in Spanish only because others on the tour understood Spanish better. Totally unfair but went on tour anyway……. As we had nothing planned otherwise. Although, we spent money on 7 other tours w Viator that we enjoyed ……… and after asking for a refund… because we didn’t understand the commentary of the Spanish tour ….. Viator didn’t even gives us a partial credit!!!!! Please be aware of your Tour Guides languages…..
Lovely places and views, great experience
Ronald_K, May 2023
The mediaeval cities were as precious as the stunning scenic views we had on the ride. Gaspar has been a great guide: very knowledgeable, showing us hidden gems, and with a lovely sense of humour. Warmly recommended!
