    What To Expect

In the morning, meet your guide and coach at one of the central Dublin pickup locations. Grab a comfortable seat and enjoy the drive out of the city, passing sites not commonly seen by tourists such as the exclusive suburbs of Sandycove and Dalkey with amazing sea views. Then cut away from the city and take in rocky coastal scenery as you head into the Wicklow Mountains.

Your first stop brings you to Avoca Handweavers, Kilmacanogue. Enjoy a dose of traditional Irish culture, shop for fine handmade goods and have a rich cup of tea (own expense). Then re-board the coach and head into the Wicklow Mountains National Park and Sally Gap. View the park’s upper slopes, blanketed in heath and bog before stopping at Lough Tay ("The Guinness Lake") a true wonder and film location for 'Braveheart,' the tributary film about Scottish hero William Wallace and current series of Vikings.

Afterward, your group visits a traditional Irish pub for lunch (own expense). Relax, savor Irish home-cooking and sip on at a creamy Guinness before heading to your final stop on the tour the glacial valley of Glendalough.

Throughout history, visitors have come to ‘the valley of the two lakes’ for its mystical history, archaeology, and unique wildlife. The monastic city of Glendalough, founded in the 6th century by St. Kevin, was once an active locale featuring areas for manuscript writing and copying, an infirmary, guest houses, and a monastery. Now it offers guests a peek into Ireland’s rich cultural history. Enjoy a guided tour of the many sites including the Round Tower, and have some free time to explore on your own.

Board the luxury Mercedes Coach for a free tot of Jameson Whiskey and start back on the return trip to Dublin.

The tour guide Ashley is a legend. Very kind and knowledgeable, and the tour itself is great. Don't forget to ask him to okay his harmonica and explain the origins of Blues music!
    Response from Host, Apr 2024

The tour was amazing!!! 1) We booked last minute and surprised it was still available a few hours before. 2) Pick up was a little confusing but we saw the bus(Wild Wicklow Tour) so crossed the street to the exact spot. 3) John was our driver/guide and he's the best guide ever! He's like a combination of Rick Flair and a leprechaun. He was the best part of the trip lol really though. 4) I wish the stop at James Joyce tower was at least 5 min longer(I literally only had time to walk to the tower, walk to the top, use the restroom, and walk straight back-dang kidneys couldn't hold it. 5) Coffee break at Avoca was amazing(I'm glad I didn't eat breakfast cause I stuffed my face there). Only 30 min there so be quick if you're indecisive about what to eat lol. 6) The drive through the mountain was beautiful and John made sure we stopped at the right spots and take photos(it was windy/cold though so I spent 5 min max taking photos lol 7) Lunch was kind of a waste since I was full off of coffee break at Avoca but I just asked for small portions. 8) Glendalaough Lake area was beautiful although it was windy/cold. 9) Although I don't drink it was cool to see the whiskey farewell before the drive home. My group wasn't drunk enough to karaoke but I would've if I knew any rock'n'roll songs. This tour was my favorite one so far 👍

    John, best tour guide
    Karen_T, Feb 2020
The tour itself is great! It visits excellent locations and many photo opportunities but what makes a tour go from great to amazing is the tour guide and mine was John he was the best! John is knowledgeable, friendly, funny, entertaining and played us great Irish music!
    Response from Host, Feb 2020

Great day out of Dublin seeing some spectacular sights. Best part was that the tour guide , John, was informative and charismatic throughout the day. Made it a very enjoyable day even with the rain.
    Fantastic!
    naththalier, Oct 2019
I had the best experience being on this day tour. I had the pleasure of having John as my tour guide. He was so great! It’s was the best day in my vacation in Ireland. And such a beautiful landscape we got to see. And I loved that John was playing irish music in the bus, while singing along! Everybody needs to go on this amazing trip!
Great day in the Wicklow mountains

Too much time on the bus
    Road531798, Oct 2019
Beautiful but it was too much time on the bus and not enough time walking in the bog area. Loved the monastery and walk along the lake
A wonderful time with a wonderful guide.
    tiffanyg205, Oct 2019
It's difficult to say which part of the tour was the most enjoyable; everything radiated perfection. From the stunning views to the energetic fountain of information masquerading as a fine gentleman named John, my wife and I never found the opportunity to use the on board wifi. If we could take this trip a thousand times, we would! I dare I say, we should! But alas, our time in Ireland is swiftly coming to an end. Hopefully John will still be around when we make our return trip. Happy 70th my fine friend!
    Excellent Tour!

Are guide John was very much wanting to share his beautiful Country with everyone on his Bus. He very much enjoyed his job. We lucked out and had a beautiful sunny day!
Great Trip made better by John the driver
    MartynR151, Sep 2019
Great driver (John). Completely nuts, but my kinda nuts. Great stories and a real joy. Glendalough was really good, scenery stops were excellent and the scenery along the way stunning. Two stops on the way - 1st was 15 mins at a small beach, no coffee places and not enough time to see the Martello tower, also too early for a comfort break. Second break stop, ideal for a comfort/coffee stop, but 30 mins at a shopping / craft area was to long. switched to 30 at 1st and 15 at second would be better. All in all a great trip though, made even better by John. Recommended.
    Rainy but really fun
    Compass80603, Aug 2019
Apparently it always rains in Wicklow but I enjoyed the tour nevertheless. The tour provided umbrellas so no worries on that score! The old monastery is amazing and the walk around the lake is beautiful. I also enjoyed the animal sightings - seals at the beach along the way and deer in the woods in Glendaloch.
    Amazing Experience
    Massiel_P, Aug 2019
This was one of the most memorable tours of my trip! Our guide, Denis, was amazing and extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this trip. Denis thank you for making this trip one to remember!
    Great tour of beautiful Wicklow.
