What To Expect

Spend a day away from Paris and visit the Normandy beaches where thousands of the Allied Powers’ troops landed to free France from Axis control during World War II. During your early-morning ride aboard an air-conditioned coach to northern France, your informative guide shares fascinating commentary on the events of June 6, 1944, better known as D-Day.

Begin at the Utah Beach Museum, housed in an original German bunker and constructed on the beach where the first American troops landed. Here, learn about Operation Overlord (the Allied codename for the Normandy Invasion) and the invaluable assistance from French citizens that made a difference in the war.

Utah Beach is now home to one of only six remaining original B-26 fighter planes that were used during the invasion. Look out onto breathtaking views of the beach from inside the museum before heading down to the beach itself.

Next, head out to the countryside to a 17th-century barn with a traditional cider-making orchard, and savor some of its cider and calvados (an apple-based brandy). With your appetite opened up, settle in for a 2-course lunch at a restaurant overlooking the port of Grandcamp-Maisy. (Lunch typically includes a main course of fish or meat, dessert, and a glass of cider.)

After your meal, your coach takes you to Pointe du Hoc, a cliff-top German defense the US troops heroically seized. Continue to Colleville-sur-Mer and pay your respects to the fallen at the American Cemetery.

From the cemetery, you can see Omaha Beach, one of the landing beaches where many American soldiers are buried. Inside the Omaha Beach Visitor Centre, gain insight into the landings that did not fare accordingly to plan.

Then, board your coach for return transport to your departure point in Paris.

Great tour
Ian_M, Apr 2024
Great tour and friendly guides. I would recommend them. Sam and his partner were very friendly and welcoming. The trivia and experience was memorable.
They don’t give enough time to enjoy the moment. It said we would visit Omaha but we just drove by it very slowly.
James_N, Apr 2024
I loved the stories that were told. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The tour itself wasn’t what I thought. We didn’t have time to see anything. Omaha was on the schedule but we just drove by it slowly. The cemetery you have 45 min but it takes 10 min to get there. Not enough time to pay your respect and feel what truly happened. Some spots we didn’t even have time to see half of it. I felt rushed. I know many in our bus felt this way. If i were to do it all over, I would do a smaller crowd or private tour so I can get more time
Amazing experience

This is one of the best tours I have been on. Our tour guides Sam & Daniel were so informative and gave a great experience to explain everything from WW1 leading up to WW2. We did so much in one day, but it was worth every minute. Thank you!
A very moving day….

Visiting Utah beach and the cemetery. Our guide Ash made the history come alive. He was knowledgeable and friendly, and knows how to tell a story. And he was fullof interesting facts about Paris, too. He made the trip. The lunch was very ordinary. Another restaurant would be a better choice.
Ash was great tour guide
Bill_S, Apr 2024
Ash was very personable and took time to answer our questions. He was also witty, and Kappus entertained a good bit of the time.
Very solemn experience.

A Profound and Memorable Journey
Janette_C, Apr 2024
From the historical sands of the D-Day landing beaches to the delightful cider tasting, this day trip from Paris was truly exceptional. The experience was not only educational but also deeply moving, offering insights into the pivotal moments of World War II. The guide was knowledgeable and passionate, bringing the stories of bravery and strategy to life in a way that was both engaging and respectful. The addition of the cider tasting was a delightful contrast, showcasing the local culture and cuisine of Normandy. It was a perfect blend of history and leisure. The lunch provided was delicious and a great opportunity to socialize with other travelers, making the trip even more enjoyable. This trip is a must-do for anyone interested in history or looking for a meaningful day trip from Paris. I highly recommend it for its thoughtful organization and the impactful experiences it offers.
Wonderful moving tour of this historic site

Seeing the cemetery with the flag coming down and Taps being played was very very moving for all! I realized my 15 year old grandson was only a few years younger than many of these soldiers who gave their lives to stop Hitler from taking over more of Europe. The tour was one of his favorite parts of our 10 day trip! Seeing Omaha & Utah beach was also sobering!

John was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and informative about the history of the battles and the struggles of the war.
Good experience.
Scott_G, Apr 2024
Great logistics by John and Ray and the driver (can't remember his name). We kept on schedule and did everything we set out to do. The content of the day was good, though, i'd have been open for more stories and details while we drove. But, I know a lot of people really wanted to just chill and even sleep. The only thing I'd change would be to cut out the cider tasting. I'd have rather spent the time at the battlefields etc. We were rushed for time. I barely covered 1/3 of the Utah Beach museum and rushed through the cemetery. I'd also consider a box lunch vs. stopping at a restaurant. Again, spend the time at the sites and have more time there.
