Overview

Soar above the city of Rio de Janeiro aboard a hang glider during this 4-hour adventure. Accompanied by a fully certified instructor, launch from the Tijuca Forest National Park, and glide over the lush, verdant Mata Atlantica (Atlantic Forest). Take in views of some of Rio's most famous landmarks, such as Sugar Loaf Mountain, the Rocinha Favela, and the Christ the Redeemer Statue atop Corcovado Mountain. Touch down for a gentle landing on the white sands of Sao Conrado Beach. Round-trip transportation is available for additional cost, but a video DVD of your hang-gliding experience is included.

What To Expect

Make your own way to the designated meeting point in the São Conrado neighborhood and head to Tijuca Forest National Park, which is surrounded by the lush Atlantic Forest.

After a safety briefing, gear up and head to the launch point. Then, feel the rush of the wind as you glide through the sky, safely accompanied by an experienced instructor. Enjoy unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean, Sugar Loaf Mountain, the Rocinha favela, and the Christ the Redeemer Statue atop Corcovado Mountain.

The flight concludes with a gentle landing on the pristine sands of São Conrado Beach. Capture the memories with photos and a video of your hang-gliding experience, included in the package.

Additional Info

  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
  • Hotel transfers aren't included but can be arranged, cost varies by location, please contact us after booking if you would like to request the service.
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • A maximum of 8 people per booking
  • If you plan taking the 360° camera option, it's recommended to install the "insta 360" app from the App store/Play Store before you come, this will help expediting imagery transfer times after your flight.
  • Pictures and videos are usually downloaded to your phone so please make sure to have at least 3GB available for the standard imagery and another 7GB if you're planning on taking the 360° camera option.
  • Near public transportation
  • No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
  • Most travelers can participate
  • For safety reasons and aircraft capacity persons of or above 100kg/220lb can't be accepted for Hang Gliding, but paragliding might still be an alternative. On certain days, depending on wind and weather or mobility restrictions, even persons slightly below mentioned weight might be redirected to Paragliding for their own safety.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 10 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Pretty short ride in the air, they were late for pick-up and try to force sell you the additional money cameras…. Nice instructors but the ride in the air is only about 4 minutes then you land. Not worth the price and not as fun.

I was very excited to do this and this is supposed to be the highlight of my trip to Rio. The communication was mishandled, was waiting for hours at the hotel for their instructions. I was booked in advance and the weather that time was great in real time to do this activity upon checking with concierge.. It was just possibly overbooked that affected your clients, Contacted them multiple times thru whatsapp, message and even the concierge at the hotel several times with your phone number and the other number. A day was wasted waiting for nothing. Then, operator was telling me their phone shut down. You have no reason to cancel this booking and resources to communicate. I have done my very best to communicate with you but not a word. Unprofessional the way you handle this, you don’t understand that every min counts when you are on vacation. How would you feel if this happens to you? Be respectful in communicating coz I was patiently waiting for nothing.

I could not do hang gliding due to I'm fat. But even so it was a great experience. I'd say it is a must. The only moment you will have some fear is when you take off, and when the instructor said he is in the process of divorce. We never know if this process might make her think that living doesn't worth anymore.

The view is amazing! Konrad on the other hand only cares about making money. The flight was supposed to last 20 minutes but in the end it was 5 Minutes because of the wind. He knew before so he should have charged less or cancel to be fair. After the flight he tried to sell me pictures for another 60€. So of i loved the view of beautiful rio and felt save but i wouldn’t recommend doing it capitalism konrad.

This was a highlight of the trip! The pilots were extremely quick in getting us signed up with the waivers, up the mountain, and prepped to fly. Heads up, our flights were about 7 minutes each due to the wind that day. But we all agreed that it was still worth it. Just know that going into it. It was so fun we almost rebooked for the next day as well!

They left me alone at the jump site for hours. The people who were supposed to jump with us went down with other people I guess, so I was struggling to find someone to jump with us for soooo long. Bad communication, timing, etc. The jump was great

Hi Mathew, I'm happy that you enjoyed our flying experience. Concerning the delay, as I already responded to another client previously. The weather situation we went trough on these particular days during this Carnaval peak period where quite hard for all, our team and also for customers as you. Since we were already running behind schedule, due to wind variations earlier that day, on one of the busiest days of the year, the only choice we had was to have you waiting untill the previous customer could be flown which usually would take about 45min but, due to the intence flow of tourists on the public site, was more like 1:15min. I would like to clarify that before leaving you at the launch site to go flying the previous client, the instructor clearly explained you the situation letting you know he would be coming back up ASAP, which he did and then took you on a great flight. Come back on a regular day and you will have a completely different and even better flying experience.
Expensive 5/10 mins tourists trap!

I normally try to be positive about these new experience but apart of the beautiful 10min paragliding the rest of the organization was pretty messy, and unclear in many ways. . They start postponing our reservation of 10am to 13pm but only informed us less than an hour before, while we’re in the taxi already. After arriving 40 min late (13h40) to pick us up they didn’t really seem to care about our option and no empathy for the extra time wasted just for those 10mim gliding! They ask you to pay on top of the tour 20$ insurance fee and 300 reais for a 360 GoPro video, that didn’t have much quality and care neither. Very unclear, a bit rude and definitely a money grabber for tourist. 300 reais for GoPro vídeo!!! Knowing Brasil, these prices really are quite a stretched. In a few words, Lack of touch/ greed ( only focus on the sale) Short for the money asked Long delay Lack of professionalism towards customers opina. (Real Pitty) All the best,

First off all, thanks for sharing your impressions. Please keep in mind that this kind of experience is profoundly related to nature and there are several natural factors, such, wind and weather that on some particular days can change constantly eventually causing changes and delays. When this kind of situation occurs on a peak season day in middle of Carnaval it really creates a chain reaction which sometimes gives us no other choice than rescheduling and cancelations. Instructors get caught up on take off which then causes a late start for the next scheduled customer. These factors are beyond our control and not always accurately predictable. We apologize if on that given moment we couldn't bring you the premium experience we are known for. On this particular day we had several changes in wind and cloudiness, which caused all sorts of delays. Concerning the club fee, which is not charged by ourselves but by the hang gliding club which maintains the launching area, that fee amount is clearly mentioned in the voucher and also in the "what's not included" section. About the options, those are just options and the cunsumer can choose to buy them at their own discretion accordingly with their interests and travel budget. Wish you safe and happy travels.

My son and I had this hang gliding experience yesterday. it was a perfect experience for us to actually do it in Rio with professional and friendly operators!(Thanks Claus!) If you are visiting Rio, this is a must!!! You will never a find a perfect view to do the hang gliding, forest city and beach combined! We are visiting from Chicago and this is one of our highlights in Rio!

Soaring above Rio on a hang glider was the highlight of my trip. My pilot Konrad was great. He was experienced and knowledgeable. He walked me through what we needed to do and what I should not do. I felt completely comfortable jumping off a cliff with him. The video and pictures are great. something I will treasure forever!
