crowded canal cruise

the cruise boat was crowded erlbow-to-elbow. uncomfortable and potentially a disease spreading event. We have been on a canal cruise in Amsterdam with less tourists visiting and the boat less crowded. our tour boat was scheduled to depart at 3:30 pm, but delayed casting off until every available seat had been filled. so many people got on the boat that a few found themselves in a SRO situation. The captain announced anybody who could not find a seat should get off the boat and try for a later sailing time. Utter chaos in a nasty environment. what a waste of money and time!!!

We had got a bad experience at the cruise they have first asked us to wait around 30 minutes even we had reached the spot on time and then they allow the other persons on the queue to go inside the boat which lead us to get the seats in the end where it was too cold and windy since that part of the boat was not covered fully.

Bad management disappointing experience

Entering the experience the staff were really unhelpful. They put us (5 pers.) at the end of Queue for a boat that was already full (even though they were counting numbers) and then made us queue up a second time for an already almost full boat meaning we had to sit outside on wet seats with young children. Very bad form.

Steamy Windows

The staff were brilliant. The trip is marked down as it was a rainy day. I know the weather cannot be helped but i'm sure the staff could have done more with the boat as all the windows were constantly steamed up so it was incredibly difficult to see anything out of the windows and imposible to take any pictures.

The canal ride is a must in Amsterdam!

It was especially nice sitting with a family from another country at our table. I did have trouble figuring out how to use the headset, but I didn't really need it.

The worst!! After making us wait an additional 15 minutes to let a group of 50+ students board the boat, we were then forced to ride with them, we were not offered or allowed another boat even I asked. During the entire cruise, the student group was so incredibly loud it was difficult to hear the tour in our headphones. The captain or the chaperones did nothing to make it better. I will never use this company again. Stay away.

Unfortunately it was a rainy night and I was seated near a window that was broken and wouldn’t shut correctly. I ended up getting very wet as no other seats were available. This was brought to the attention of the captain who wasn’t at all concerned I will not be booking with you again as this window latch had clearly been broken a long time showing me you do not maintain a review of the trips you promote

Nice cruise on canals for a great price

Great canal ride in a covered boat with windows that slide open & headsets for several languages. Nice highlights of history & architecture & significant buildings. There was a rowdy, obnoxious, rude group oblivious of the other passengers. The captain stopped the boat, told them to quiet down or he would make them disembark in the musket of the city. We were very impressed by his actions & how firm he was (thank you). This is a very nice, short cruise & well worth the price.

While I can understand that the weather is out of their control, they set us up for failure by A. Maxing out the capacity of the boat B. Deciding to take it out in the pouring rain without rescheduling. We booked a last minute canal cruise in the afternoon, for that evening. Did I check the weather? No. That was my fault. We arrived at 6:00 at the departures area and I had to use the bathroom. I had to pay one euro, despite me already being a paid customer. Let’s stick a bunch of people together at a bar and then charge them to use the bathroom. When we boarded the boat, we were seated but noticed that all of the windows were fogged. Without wiping the window repeatedly we couldn’t see anything. Even after wiping, it was hard to see. They filled the boat to capacity so you couldn’t see the other side of the boat. The cruise operator scraped the bridges of the canal with the boat multiple times. The audio guide was not in sync with the boat so we would see things afterwards. We never even saw the Anne Frank house, despite it being the first thing listed on the description. Absolutely awful experience.

Basic canal cruise with no frills

The boat itself was fine and we had room to sit with a table and a covered roof. But the tour was just less that 50min rather than the advertised 1hr and I expect because it was a large boat didn’t take in any smaller interesting canals. The commentary was easy to hear with provided headphones but the commentary repeated itself on numerous occasions replaying the same sections at different times. The captain was friendly enough and said that he’d also give some commentary and guidance but the only thing he did was to point out the Anne Frank house, more interaction through the cruise would have made it more interesting and engaging. In hindsight I’d have rather paid a little more for a more personal and smaller group.

Walmart= this cruise

This felt like the Walmart of canal cruises. The tour was crowded, and all we really had were cheap audio earbuds to listen to the description of the canal. Would’ve loved a captain who could’ve provided more interaction and answered questions. Plus, it was really crowded.

It was a nice cruise amd captain has good knowledge and we loved it. Just has one advice for Captain that we entered boad in the last being a family captain didn't help us in adjusting or with sitting as only 1 or 2 seat was available in rows and person sitting nearby were covering these partially so were inaccessible and we have to ask few person some refused us to give a seat but some were able to let us sit.

Hostile, rascist, misogynistic captain ruined our cruise.

The views of the Amsterdam canal side were stunning but sadly marred by the ‘captain’ of our boat making a stream of misogynistic and rascist remarks. On leaving the boat I told him that I had found his comments offensive, in response to which he became hostile and unpleasant. I would therefore recommend using an alternative cruise provider if you wish to avoid such bigotry.

Amsterdam lit up at night - beautiful

Lovely to see Amsterdam from the water and particularly at night when it was all lit up. The boat was comfortable and covered so we were protected from the weather. We got to see quite a few of the light festival exhibits even though we were on a regular cruise. It was a great way to spend an hour.
