Tulips were beautiful in...
Marc_N, May 2024
Tulips were beautiful in spite of rain. Windmills were interesting but too commercial. Guide was good.
Timing is everything for this event!
Michael_C, May 2024
When considering this event, timing is everything. We went on May 9, and the tulip fields had been harvested. At the Kuekenhof, the vast majority of the flowers were dying. Very disappointing, and in our opinion, this event should not really be offered in May. April is the peak time to enjoy the tulips and other flowers, which is why I’m sure most everyone books this excursion. That said, the rest of the trip was enjoyable. We saw the wooden clogs made, cheese class, and the windmills. Logistically everything was on time with no problems. The tour company personnel were very nice and enjoyed their jobs. Would’ve given this five stars without hesitation, if we had been able to see fields of tulips like everyone expects.
Time well spent

Our tour was informative and interesting. We got a great overview of several topics - windmills, wooden shoes, cheeses, Dutch history and life. We especially liked touring an authentic working wind mill. Tour guide David was very knowledgeable and personable, and spoke English clearly. The tulips were at the end of their season (May 6), so while they were beautiful, we definitely missed the peak of the season. Even so, the Gardens were gorgeous and very enjoyable to visit. The whole tour was well-organized and on time. Would highly recommend.
Windmills and Tulips
Aloma_T, May 2024
Was a bit drawn out especially the time at the gardens with no real easy way to get around such a vast area
Friendly and engaging but tulips past their best
Mary_N, May 2024
I didn’t know what to expect and I thought we were visiting the tulip fields, but there was a lot to see at Keukenhof, although a lot of the tulips were not at their best - presumably because it was late in the season but also because it rained so much in April. The star of the day was the tour guide. Toas, at Zaansee. She was friendly, knowledgable and engaging. Overall we got a lot from our day
Go early in the tulip season
David_B, May 2024
We went there Sunday may 5th. 90% of the tulips were gone. The gardens were lovely but not what we went there for. No immense fields of colors other than green. The windmills were awesome. Climb to the top if you can. The wooden shoe and cheese exhibitions were great. Our tour guide was pretty much non existent. She was there to keep us from getting lost or left behind. She provided little comment of value. However.... We didn't get lost or left behind. The windmill village made the trip worthwhile.
A great day

The day was so complete, it's hard to single out one thing. Both the driver and guide were fantastic.
Tulips and Windmill’s, Quaint Towns, Oh My!
Erica_J, May 2024
Tulips, quaint town and windmills. Although a little disappointed there were no rows and rows of tulips in the fields, once you arrived and entered the Keukenhof grounds it’s a site of BEAUTIFUL tulips and other flowers (acres and acres). The visit at the quaint town held quite a bit of history and it was great to see, behind the scene, a working windmill and climb up to the landing that over looks the fields. It was amazing seeing the full process of how wooden shoes are made. I would at this to your list of things to see!
Beautiful tulips and charming Dutch village
Jennifer_O, May 2024
We had a wonderful experience with this tour. We had a few hours on our own in the. Keukenhof gardens. We then went to Zaanse Schans and enjoyed the experience of walking through a very quaint little Dutch town. We went inside a working windmill, did Gouda cheese tasting and saw how clogs are made. Our guide Bianca was fantastic. I would definitely recommend the small group tour.
Flowers, cheese, clogs and windmills

NEVER book with Zaan Tours!
Sharon_H, May 2024
I recently visited Amsterdam and had booked five tours. Keukenhof Gardens was the main reason for the trip. On the day before the booking I got an email changing the meeting place. They said on the ferry dock by the HIV/Aids monument at Centraal Station. They said to look for an orange umbrella. No orange umbrella. I asked multiple security guards and the information desk. No one knew anything about the monument. I called the number and got a "not in service" recording. They had my cell number and email and did not bother to try to contact me. This is the first time I have had anything like this happen with many bookings I have had with Viator. All of my other tours were excellent. If this is the way Zaan operates, they should go out of business. All the other guides were contacting anyone who was not there and facilitating the meet up. I was on time and did not need that, but observed how other companies were making every effort when someone was having a problem. Do yourself a favor, go with someone else, ANYONE else.
Enjoyable day!

Being inside a windmill was amazing. The knowledge presented about the history behind them was so fascinating. Our guide was very helpful throughout. The gardens were magnificent and beautiful!
Worst experience

The tour sent change of meeting place late at night when we err asleep and phone was off. We missed it.. I’d never do this company again. No word on a refund
Tulip Garden and Windmill Tour issues
Daniel_V, May 2024
We were very disappointed that the tour leader did not offer any commentary during the bus rides to the 3 locations. There was no narrative during the approximately 1 hour to the tulip garden, approximately another hour to the windmills, then the trip back to the drop off location. 3 wasted hours and missed opportunities to learn about Amsterdam! We intentionally selected this "small group" tour because it seemed like the best situation to learn about the country, tulip garden, etc, but there was no information shared during the travel times Also, we were given the wrong day entry tickets for the tulip garden, so we had to waste some of our limited time in the customer service line trying to fix the problem.
Do NOT Book with this Company
Virginia_E, May 2024
The first stop on the tour dropped us off in a hail storm. We weren't allowed to stay on the bus because the poor driver had to go and pick up another group. So we are walking in rain and hail and unable to hear a thing from our tour leader. Once we are at Kukenhoff Gardens (which are spectacular) our tour leader tells us she is leaving us and wishes us well. The driver will be back to pick us up but he had to leave to take care of another group. The driver was unable to get back to pick us up in time due to traffic delays and poor planning by the tour operator. He did give us a 25% discount, but this is a poor way to do business and an even worse way to treat your employees. I would recommend you find a tour that ensures an employee is with you at all times. What if we had experienced some sort of medical emergency?????
Fabulous small group trip!
Joy_W, May 2024
Brett was very knowledgeable bringing the history alive about the windmills, cheese, clogs etc. The tulips were amazing! Only negatives were that it was so busy and there wasn’t an allocated lunch break.
Tulips Glorious but too late in the day
Angela_M, May 2024
Keukenhof was Glorious and gorgeous but after Zaanse Schans it was late in the day and Keukenhof is huge and we weren't able to see it all. Should have left earlier in the morning. Caroline was a great tour guide.
Great beauty
Viorica_F, May 2024
Unique experience to see tulips at their peak. The tour helps navigating the crowds and also save time. The guide Mike for the windmill section was very good and accommodating. Definitely I recommend it
Great trip
Patty_D, May 2024
The trip was fantastic. Our driver Ken did a great job. He's got a great sense of humor. Our Guide Maaike was so friendly and answered everyone's questions.
