At least it was an adventure..?

I booked a round trip private transfer for my family (4 of us with large luggage) from Rio to Angra. I was impressed by the representative on the phone. He was super helpful. The day our driver showed up, he was punctual and extremely professional. The van was large, clean and comfortable. Our driver stopped half way so we could stretch and get a snack. He handed the keys off to my brother when he locked the vehicle. We arrived at our destination in a very timely manner. This leg of the trip deserves a 5 star rating, and this is what set my expectations. BUT THEN--the return trip happened. We were met by a driver who had a personal vehicle. It was small. We had to stuff our luggage into the trunk, piling it so high it obstructed the view out of the back. We crammed into the car and barely had leg room. We weren't even sure we had the correct driver. It appears as if Viator had sub-contracted this leg of our transfer. It was a bit nerve wracking to say the least. Oh! AND THEN we were pulled over by local police!!! Apparently our driver did not have his proper documents. After about 30 minutes of the police questioning him, we were on our way with no explanation. It would have been helpful if Viator had sent an email explaining what to expect. It felt unsafe to say the least. There was a complete void of communication for this leg of the trip. If you plan to use this company; I recommend you ask thorough questions up front.

Hello Mr Lancaster! Thank you for your feedback, we always want to know how our services went, even if something happened that you didn't like is important for us to know to correct them. The private transfer service was denied for 04 people with luggage, our agency has several models to better serve our customers and business partners, in your case it was not necessary a vehicle as large as it was sent in transport from Rio de Janeiro to Angra dos Reis, but as the vehicle was available at that time we decided to send a 16-seater vehicle just to serve your family of 4. On the return from Angra dos Reis to Rio de Janeiro we sent a 7-seater vehicle (Chevrolet Spin) enough to serve you, of course I understand your frustration, since on the way the vehicle was a bigger asset and the return was the vehicle adequate to serve you, so i imagine the frustration thinking that the return would be the same vehicle of the trip ... With respect to the questioning of the vehicle by the military police, unfortunately we live in a place where "some" policemen want to earn easy money by intimidating or requesting documents that do not need to be requested, so much so that after the driver calls us and we have talked to the inspection agent, you are lbered to continue your journey. I believe that we have provided a good service from the beginning to the end and I think that the dissatisfaction of you would have been for waiting for the same vehicle to go back to Rio. Anyway I apologize for the misunderstanding and we hope that in your next visit to Rio we can help you in the best possible way. Big hug Mr Lancaster!
