Lido, was the best tour guy we’ve ever had in 10 years of using Viator. He truly made the experience a positive one, anticipating all issues and heading them off to maintain our pace and maximize the number of things we could see on our excursion.

Gus was the best ! He communicated with what’s app about out pick up at the hotel. He was right on time. We felt safe with him and his driving. On this private tour, he catered to our needs and traffic. We spoke very good English and gave us much information about the sites & Rio. He escorted us through the fast track lanes and how to avoid many stairways. He showed us the best places to be for the views and where to get the best photos. He even took photos of us. You can tell that he loves his job and is a pleasure to be around. It was money well spent for this private tour. After the tour , we were very pleased with our decision to have book this private tour. We had a full day exploring all of the major sites in Rio. Book this private tour and you will not be disappointed .

Best day in Rio! Gus was a great guide! He accompanied our group of five to all the sights. We visited Christ the Redeemer, Ipanema & Copacabana beaches, Sugar Loaf cable car & the Escalaria Selarón. We had a delicious lunch of Brazilian BBQ. I highly recommend this full day tour with guide & driver.

This was scheduled for our first full day in Rio and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Luis was our guide and picked us up from our hotel. Before embarking on our journey through Rio, he asked what our interests were and designed our itinerary based on that. We visited Christ the Redeemer, Botanical Gardens, and the famous stairs. He have us an impromptu food tour and took us to the best place for cheesy bread (name is escaping me at the moment). He dropped us off at sugarloaf but the lines were too long so we returned another day. Overall this is a private great tour that gives you the freedom to customize your itinerary. I would definitely book again if I returned with newbies. It was also nice to hear about the history and culture. Oh, and he doubled as our photographer. :) The only thing I would change is time management. My friends would sometimes get caught up in taking photos that we didn’t have enough time catch the sunset at sugarloaf. Granted the day was ours, it would have been helpful to keep everyone on track.

Gus was a fantastic tour guide from start to finish. Gus picked us up from our hotel and took us on a tour that included Christ the Redeemer, the Maracana, Selaron Steps and Sugarloaf Mountain. As you can see from other reviews, Gus has tons of experience providing tours and is able to help plan trips according to your individual preference and provide stellar commentary and detail no matter what you choose. I would highly recommend Gus to anyone coming to Rio for tourism.

Gus is an excellent guide. He is a Rio native, but lived in the US for a bit so his English is very good. We saw all the major sites and also some lesser known sites that we never would have found on our own. We highly recommend him!

I did lots of research to find a guide that could show us the best of our limited time in Rio and it certainly paid off ! Gus picked us up promptly, and we visited all the main sights, whilst he advised the best sequence to visit, the best viewing places to stand and highlighted key landmarks along the way. Invaluable insights ! Gus was amazing. His knowledge of the area, history and culture is incredible. His spoken english is very clear and he is a great communicator. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Book him, you will not be disappointed !

A great tour with a great guide

Daniel picked us up at our hotel at 8am, right on time. We talked about what we would like to see and agreed on an agenda, namely that we would like to visit Christ the Redeemer, the top of Sugarloaf, the Selaron steps, and maybe visit the botanical garden. Daniel recommended going to Cristo Redentor first since it gets very busy later in the day. We drove across town in Daniel's car which was clean and comfortable. Daniel speaks English very well, we never had a problem communicating. I felt like we were spending the day with a friend showing us around. Daniel dropped us off at the tram to the top of Corcovado, told us to buy tickets, and wait for him to rejoin us. Since my wife is somewhat mobility impaired, Daniel spoke to the attendants and got us on the tram first. Daniel is a wealth of information. He told us all about Christ the Redeemer and showed us the best spots to get good photos. The next stop was Sugarloaf. Again, he dropped us off, parked the car, and rejoined us. After we bought the tickets he showed us where to go to get priority boarding for handicapped people. We had a coffee at the top of Sugarloaf and talked for several minutes. It was enjoyable to just talk with Daniel. On the way to the Selaron stairs we stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant. The food was excellent and the cost was very reasonable. The Selaron steps were as spectacular as we had hoped. By this time it was after 2 in the afternoon. We decided that we were worn out and that we could skip the botanical gardens. Daniel was quite willing to continue the tour, but we were done. We enjoyed seeing the major attractions of Rio de Janeiro very much, but we enjoyed even more meeting Daniel and spending time with him. If, when, we go back to Rio, we will ask Daniel to guide us again. We like the pleasure of his company.
