What To Expect

Meet your guide near the entrance to the Duomo complex at the very heart of Florence’s historic city center, to begin your visit to the cluster of UNESCO World Heritage–listed monuments. Begin with the octagonal St. John’s Baptistery, one of the oldest structures in the city and the place where many famous figures such as Dante and members of the powerful Medici family were baptized. Admire the bronze relief sculpture doors nicknamed the ‘Gates of Paradise’ before stepping inside to be surrounded by magnificent marble sculptures and mosaic floors and ceilings.

Next, enter the centerpiece of the complex, the Santa Maria del Fiori Cathedral. Also known as the Florence Cathedral, this Gothic masterpiece capped by Brunelleschi’s famous dome is one of the largest churches in Italy. Learn about its history and construction with an interior tour, including a visit to the Crypt of Santa Reparata.

Delve deeper into the artists and architects of the Duomo with a stop at the Opera del Duomo Museum, formerly a workshop where devotional art for the cathedral and surrounding structures was made. See important pieces including the original baptistery doors and marble sculptures by Michelangelo, Donatello, and other Renaissance masters. At the end of the tour, you'll have the chance to climb to the top the cathedral dome and Giotto’s Bell Tower for fantastic panoramic views over Florence.

Unfortunately this tour though advertised as skip the line was not that!! We had to wait in line for several hours in very hot sun to enter the duomo. We eventually gave up. We specifically travelled to Florence to see the duomo and we werewere extremely disappointed

I forgot our tour guide's name, but she was really informative. The only tick of the star was due to the fact that this is such a busy place to have a walking tour, and due to the fact we're moving around so much, it's easy to get lost in the mix. Otherwise, great value.

This tour is being offered as a skip the line tour. Florence Tours by Made of Tuscany who are executing this tour stressed to us and the group more than once there is no more skip the line possibility anymore, after the community of Florence changed this earlier this year. This tour is offered as a 2 hour tour, visiting the cathedral, the museum and the baptistery. This can only be managed with the prior skip the line possibility, as the line/queue outside the cathedral alone takes more than 2 hours to complete. We did the museum first, than the baptistery and with only some 15 minutes left of the 2 hours, Christiano our tour guide wanted us to queue in the 2 hours line for the cathedral...in the burning sun...for a skip the line tour, at least so we thought as we booked it this way. We decided not to queue and left the tour 15 minutes earlier...after all the other people on our group already left at earlier stages...all in discontent and feeling a bit fooled too. Whether we stayed the remaining 15 minutes or not, we would never have seen the inside of the number 1 attraction of this tour, the cathedral itself. It felt like a waste of our morning and we had to recovered from this disappointment over lunch to get ourselves ready for another tour in the afternoon. I did not enjoy this tour at all. We met Christiano the tour guide at 10:45 in the morning and he smelled like a rhinoceros. We all, like all normal people, took a shower that morning and put on a fresh shirt...not Christiano, he smelled like 4 days old sweat. He also did not brush his teeth with all kinds of food residue in between his teeth everywhere. In the museum I tried to stay ahead of him so I would not have to follow him/the smell and in every room I hoped he would not raise his arm to point out something as the terrible smell would float freely around again. Besides that he as boring to listen to and just carried on without waiting for the group nor checking is everybody was still there.

The guide was excellent but the trip was advertised as skip the queue and it wasn't which meant that we did not have sufficient time to visit the Duomo which was the reason for visiting Florence we did visit the Museum and Baptistery. The guide stated that Viator had been made aware, earlier in the summer, of the change in process yet a visitor in our group who booked 3 days prior to the date stated that this tour was skip the queue - I would add that we were not contacted to advise that this would not be a skip the queue tour - Very poor

The Duomo is a must visit and our tour was fantastic. The beauty took my breath away! Wonderful tour guide very informative. After our wonderful tour we climbed the 463 steps to the top of the Duomo. A must when you are visiting with fantastic views of all of Florence. We also climbed the 414 steps in the Giotto Bell tower. I wouldn't miss this one either. Fabulous views of the Duomo and all of Florence.

Tour Extraordinario, cumplio todas mis expectativas y lo ofertado. Consejo para subir a la Cúpula hay que tener resistencia, son mas de 400 peldaños y el acceso es cada vez mas estrecho. Excelente lo recomiendo.
